Yuba-sutter Toys for Tots Served 1,985 Children in Yuba-sutter During December

2019 was an incredible time for YubaSutter Toys for Tots as they celebrated a record year. Here are the Yuba-sutter numbers: -1,985 Low income children served -3,964 gifts went to local children, plus: -398 books -2,388 stocking stuffers “We are so blessed to have such a giving community!” said Bob Harlan, local Toys for Tots coordinator.

They received 1,624 gifts from more than 60 local drop-off participating businesses and through a special event with the Yuba City Fire Department, which was a one-day appearance at Target in Yuba City collecting toys and money.

Local cash donations exceeded $12,000 to purchase gifts, which included $5,000 from our local Walmart and Sam’s Club stores.

In addition to the 462 low income children served through the two-day “family distribution event” on the weekend before Christmas, they also provided gifts to 13 other local organizations, churches and schools.

Yuba-sutter Toys for Tots has virtually no overhead this year. We received free storage space from Results Radio, incredible family distribution assistance from Yuba-sutter Salvation Army, free family distribution and sorting facilities through Hilber’s Inc. and Reason Farms, and various free services from Grocery Outlet!

Toys for Tots also received more than $15,000 in gifts at no charge from the Toys for Tots Foundation!

“Donations to Toys for Tots is a VERY pure form of giving as funds received are turned into gifts for families in need of providing Christmas for their youngsters,” Harlan said.

The local Toys for Tots organization has a nucleus of eight volunteers who run this program annually between mid-october and Christmas.
