The Yuba County Sheriff ’s Office arrested a Browns Valley man for arson and for being a former felon in possession of a loaded and concealed firearm.

James Matthew Fiske,

31, was wanted for the residentia­l arson of an unoccupied garage that occurred the morning of July 1 in the 5600 block of Wolf Trail, Loma Rica. The building was destroyed, according to a news release.

At around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Fiske was arrested in the 1600 block of North Beale Road and was in possession of a loaded and concealed handgun.

Cal Fire is assisting the sheriff ’s office in the ongoing investigat­ion into the fire.

As of late Tuesday,

Fiske had not yet been booked into Yuba County Jail, according to public informatio­n officer Leslie Carbah. arrested by Cal Fire investigat­ors after she was seen leaving the area where the Swedes Fire started in Bangor on July 1.

Nicole Carol Bunch, 33, was booked into Butte County Jail on suspicion of arson to forest land, impersonat­ing a firefighte­r, and resisting or delaying arrest, according to a news release.

When fire personnel arrived at the scene of the fire at 3:47 p.m. July 1, Bunch was seen leaving the area on foot.

While firefighte­rs controlled the blaze, Cal Fire investigat­ors arrived and searched for Bunch. She was found in the back of a department crew bus, dressed in a Cal Fire uniform and gathering personal belongings of firefighte­rs, according to the release.

While being questioned, Bunch allegedly gave several false names to investigat­ors. A correction­s officer at Butte County Jail identified Bunch who was previously wanted on two felony warrants out of Butte County for child cruelty and failure to appear in court.

Bunch was booked into Butte County Jail on $90,000 bail. She could be charged with additional counts pending the conclusion of the investigat­ion, according to the release.

The Sutter County Coroner’s Office released the names of the two people who died in a headon vehicle collision on Highway 99 on Sunday.

Gabriela Michelle Sanchez, 27, of Chico and Arthur Anacleto Medina, 43, of Sacramento died in the collision that occurred around 1:10 a.m. Sunday.

Sanchez, who was driving a BMW, was traveling in the wrong lane of Highway 99 south of Sankey Road when she collided headon with Medina, who was driving a Toyota in the northbound lane. Despite both wearing a seatbelt at the time of impact, Sanchez and Medina sustained fatal injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol Yuba-sutter.

CHP stated alcohol is believed to have contribute­d to the collision.
