Yuba County native, now a firefighter paramedic in Roseville, earns firefighter of the year award

-

On July 12, Firefighter Paramedic Angel Mota was presented with the Elks Lodge Firefighter of the Year award.

Mota grew up in Marysville and Loma Rica and was a Marysville High graduate. He got his degree at Yuba College and did Fire Academy at Yuba College. Started working at MFD nine years ago.

This award was to be presented earlier this year but due to COVID-19 restrictions it had to wait till July 12, when an outside the fire station, socially distanced, wearing masks presentation could happen.

Below is the nomination that was submitted by the department for Angel’s award:

Firefighter/paramedic Mota started with the City of Roseville in April of 2019. He came to us after working his way up the ranks in various other organizations and graduating from a local paramedic program. In his short time here at Roseville Fire, Firefighter/ Paramedic Mota has responded to multiple high level EMS incidents.

Firefighter/paramedic Mota care is patient centric, he performs at the highest level and he utilizes excellent critical thinking skills. While we cannot discuss specifics of patient calls due to privacy laws, it has been proven through quality indicators in reviews of specific calls, that there are residents in the City of Roseville who are alive today directly due to actions taken by Angel. One example would be an incident involving a young woman who suffered a cardiac arrest.

Firefighter/paramedic Mota is a true asset to the City of Roseville and our Fire Department. He has a commitment and passion for community education and consistently provides a high level of customer service.

Thank you to the Elks Lodge for their continued support of our first responders!
