First 5 Yuba grant available for community projects
First 5 Yuba County Children and Families Commission has grant funding available for short-term communitybased projects that promote schoo readiness skills in the children of Yuba County.
According to a press release issued by the commission, $40,000 has been allotted for childcare providers, individuals, private organizations, non-profit agencies or public agencies in need of additional funding to work with or improve the lives of expectant mothers, babies, toddlers or preschool-aged children living within the county.
“What happens from prenatal through age five has a substantial influence on how a child will function in school and later in life,” it was stated in the release. “A clear goal for First 5 Yuba is for children in Yuba County to be socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually ready for school.”
The commission is able to award up to $4,000 in grant funding for each project.
Eligible projects must align with First 5 Yuba’s strategic plan and be completed by May 31, 2021. Upon completion, all recipients must submit a final evaluation report.
Those interested in applying for grant funding must attend a mandatory online pre-application orientation in addition to submitting a completed application.
Two live pre-application orientation meetings are scheduled for Sept. 3 and participants are required to register prior to attending. For more information, call Robin Timoszyk at 749-4877 or visit www.first5yuba.org/ funding-information.
Access to a recorded webinar can also be requested.
Applicants are asked to allocate one to two hours to attend or view the webinar, depending on number of participants and questions.
“Interested parties may attend either meeting but the evening meeting will focus on the specific needs of childcare providers,” it was stated in the release.
Grant funding will be awarded until the grant funds are depleted.
