Community Thanksgiving meal
So I’m a little late getting this out this year but, I, Kassie Holck, on behalf of the Marysville Elks Lodge #783, would like to give a great big shout out and thank you to all of our volunteers and everyone involved in making this Thanksgiving another successful one.
On Thursday, November 26th, 2020, we served over 1600 meals this year with over 800 of those being deliveries. Thank you to Habitat for Humanity for letting us use their parking lot this year so that we could keep as much as we could outside. Thank you to the Kiwanis for once again helping out with deliveries and to those of them who stuck around after deliveries were done to help out where needed. Also, the Kiwanis supplied the pies and breads. This year we had to have 4 lines going just to be able to keep up. Thank you to the Yuba Sutter
Food Bank for Donating the remaining meals that we needed. The Elks Lodge supplied 600 of those meals. Thank you to Cal Water once again for donating the funds for those 600 meals in the amount of $2000. As well as the Kiwanis for their donation in the amount of $600. Thank you to John Nicoletti for helping me get everything in order. Thank you to Sherry Sparks, PER and member of the
Elks Lodge for making the order and getting the food
shipped ahead of schedule this year. Thank you to the anonymous donors who also donated money to help fund this annual event.
Thank you to John Nicoletti’s Culinary class at Yuba College for cooking most of the food. Thank you to the Salvation Army for cooking 60 of those Turkeys. Thank you to John
Coyle and Brandon for running the kitchen and keeping things in order. Thank you to Joe Veal for cleaning up after the event. Thank you to all of our individual volunteers who come down every year with their families to come help us. And last but certainly not least, thank you to my darling, wonderful husband, Paul Holck, for donating his time to go down to the lodge to make sure that everything
stayed in order.
To all involved your efforts have not gone unnoticed. You are all amazing and without your support none of this would be possible. You deserve a great big pat on the backs and a round of applause. If I forgot anyone I do apologize.
