Art “Gino” Genera died on February 3, 2021, at the age of 78, after a four week battle with COVID at Stanford Medical Center. Art was born on June 29, 1942, i n El Paso, Texas, to Samuel and Ninfa Genera. The family moved to Colusa and Art has been part of the Colusa Community for over 69 years.

Art’s greatest joy was being with his family who will miss him dearly. He was so much a part of everyday life. His happiest moments were when he was being “papa” to his three grandsons or being out in the duck blind with his son, Gino. Art loved being outdoors and spent many hours working in his yard or just sitting enjoying the sunshine. He was an avid duck hunter for over 52 years.

Art was the owner of Gino’s Hair Styles since 1965. He truly enjoyed his profession and all those people who became a part of his life throughout the years.

Art was President and active member of the Colusa Concilio in 1971-73. In 1972, he assisted his brother i n opening Ruben’s Restaurant. He was a member of the Democratic Central Committee in the 70’s, a Voter Registrar in 1972, helped organize one of the first Health Care Fairs i n 1972 and served on the Grand Jury from 197374.

Art was nominated to the Colusa County Fair Board of Directors in 2002, and served for 5 years. Art started promoting downtown parking in Colusa beginning in 1974. In 2008, he opened Gino’s Steakhouse with his son and wife.

Art is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara; his daughters, Wendy Jones and Diana (Jeff) Mitchell; son, Gino; and his three grandsons, Jacob Jones, Benjamin and Maxwell Mitchell. He is also survived by his sisters, Carmen Gomez, Mary, Delia, Cynthia, and Al e s i a Genera; a nd brothers, Samuel, Jesus, Fernando, Reynaldo and Leo; s i s t e r s - i n - l a w, Louise Bridges, and Dolores Biesecker; and brother-in-law, Louie Grob.

He is preceded i n death by his parents, Samuel and Ninfa Genera; sister, Rachel Lozano; brothers, Carlos and Ruben; and his mother-in-law, Wanda Grob.

We ask that memorial donations be made in Art’s memory to Our Lady of Lourdes School, 741 Ware Ave., Colusa.

A viewing will be Thursday, February 18, 2021, from 5:00-8:00pm, at Mcnary Moore Funeral Home

Services will be Friday, February 19, 2021, at 10:00am, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church foll o wed b y b ur i a l a t 11:00am, at Holy Cross Cemetery.
