STEP 1 - STEP 2 - STEP 3 -

To open, or not to open…that is definitely the question. Each day brings us closer to those long-awaited art gallery receptions, live music and theater events and, well, something like normal life. The rules are becoming clearer, and it looks like June 15th may signal a new dawn for the arts. I saw the following, fun social media post about performing arts venues reopening. I excerpt it here with adjustments to make it more all arts inclusive and family friendly.

GOOD NEWS: Concerts, live theater programs and art gallery openings are coming back. Here’s a guide on how things are gonna go. No guest list for comps. Everyone in the live music and theater business has been out of work for 13 months and they all need your support now more than ever. Buy the damn ticket.

Support local. Before you buy that high priced, big venue, big name ticket, consider putting that money back into your own community. This is the best way to ensure that a thriving local arts and culture scene will return.

If you’re going to a show,

SUNDAY

EVENTS

– There will be a Knights of Columbus #2145 Blood Drive, in conjunction with Vitalant, from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at St. Bernadette’s Hall, 735 Ware St., Colusa. Facial coverings are required to donate. Appointments are requested to wear the damn mask. Period. Vaccinated? Don’t care. Already had it? Don’t care. We only get one shot at restarting this machine. Don’t be the one that screws it up. We get it. Social distancing sucks. Masks suck. After more than a year of isolation, all you wanna do is lean in close and spew your spittle on friends and strangers alike. You know the rules. Please follow them. Support the scene. Can’t make the event? It’s free to support it in other ways. Share the posts. Invite your friends to the event page. For this to work, we need all hands on deck. Be kind. Look, it’s been a while. Performers are a little rusty. There will be hiccups. Be nice anyway. Support the artists. Buy the band’s T-shirt. Buy a painting. Purchase season tickets. Have fun. You’ve been waiting for this moment for over a year, so enjoy the heck out of it. Discover a new band. Meet a new artist. Come early. Clap loudly. Dance. Laugh. Go to yubsutterarts.org for details.
