Edith “Edie” Louise Dennis, of Sutter, California, passed away September 5, 2021, peacefully at home.

Edie was born December 2, 1935, in Ada, Oklahoma. She lived in variety of states and territorie­s during her husband’s 20 years of Air Force service before settling in Northern California. She retired from Rideout Hospital after 39 years of service, where she made lifelong friends who were more like family. Edie was dedicated to Rideout Hospital, serving the community, and raising her five children.

Edie and her family faced many hardships in life including losing all their belongings during a move to Bermuda, losing their first home in a fire, and then their second home during the 1986 flood. Despite these hardships, Edie held onto her faith and continued to persevere and overcome all of life’s obstacles. Edie loved to remind us all to “keep doing what you’re doing.” Edie was full of life, love and joy she was a light to everyone who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Edie was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Dennis; sons, John and Larry Dennis; parents, Lora Lee and Reverend Edward Lee; sisters, Dot Freeman and Gladys Mccann; and brother, Eddie Lee.

Edie is survived by daughter, Marsha Scotten (Dell Scotten) of Sutter; sons, Gary Dennis (Tami Dennis) of Vacaville, Terry Dennis (Jill Dennis) of Marysville; and Robin Dennis (Larry Dennis) of Browns Valley; her eight grandchild­ren and eight great-grandchild­ren, as well as many adopted family members.

A celebratio­n of life will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers you can make a donation to the Hallwood Church of the Nazarene 2825 State Hwy 20, Marysville, CA 95901 in Edie’s honor.

She was Grand Jury Foreman in 1979 and again was a member of the Jury in 2008.

In 1988 she married Chandler Church and she became an avid golfer. Her love for golf took her to many countries. She was a member of Peach Tree Golf and Country Club and was Captain of the Ladies Club in 2011.

People always recognized her for wearing over 80 golf hats. A special thanks to her longtime friend of over 65 years, Mitzi Hatamiya of Live Oak, for the loving care she gave her.

And also, many thanks to Dr. Darrell Munzer, Dr. Michael Chin, Dr. Kline Win, Dr. Brian Jonas, her nephew Dr. Chandler Mann, and to all the nurses at the cancer center who gave her wonderful care.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Vera Kerrigan, and husband Chandler Church, and sister Dorothy Shires.

She is survived by her sons, Craig (Jackie) Carter of Yuba City and Steve (Debbie) Carter of Live Oak.

Grandsons, Clay Carter of Biggs, Drake (Sam) Carter of Live Oak, Thomas Carter of Yuba City and granddaugh­ter Jaycee (Tyler) Rico of Italy, sisters Helen Burk of Live Oak and Barbara Huse of Yuba City and niece Jackie (David) Harger of Reno.

Nephews, Kevin, Brad, Brent and Mark Shires of Yuba City, Tom and Dan Burk and Dr. Chandler (Ann) Church of Texas.

Four great-grandchild­ren, Raylan, Delilah, Cabela and Brier. Sisterin-law Janice Mann of Reno.

Miriam Odessa Bunch Logan, daughter of the late George and Lucille Bunch, passed into eternal rest on September 23, 2021, with family at her side. Born on August 28, 1928, in Eutawville, S.C., Miriam was the oldest of three children.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, Jack Bunch; and son, Donald F. Logan. She is survived by sons, George (Jean) Logan, Benjamin (Vernita) Logan Jr., Paul Logan, and Kenneth (Telisa) Logan, 9 grandchild­ren, 9 great-grandchild­ren, and 2 great-great-grandchild­ren, 1 step-grandson, and 3 step-great grandchild­ren; her sister Janie Woodrow; 7 nephews and 7 nieces.

Miriam moved from Eutawville, to Butler, PA, in 1953. She raised her family there until moving to Southern California in 1961. She lived in Southern California until returning to Eutawville to help care for her mother and father. Miriam moved to Northern California in 2011 to be near family where she lived until her death. Miriam’s greatest joy was her family and making friends wherever she lived.

Mike was a devoted husband and father, recently celebrated 23 years of marriage to Judy. Together t hey have t wo beautiful daughters, Kirrin and Robyn which he adored.

Mike is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Kirrin, and Robyn; his brothers, Victor (Toni), John (Elizabeth) of Sacramento, Albert (Aleta) of Redding, Robert (Jerry) of San Francisco; sisters, Esther ( Keith) of Seattle, Lupe, Rosa ( Charlie), Theresa, Estella of Sacramento, Irene (Dennis) of Nevada City; and 58 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded i n death by his sister, Mary; and parents, Juan and Ofelia Sanchez of Sacramento.

Mike attended Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento where he earned his nickname Sumo. He loved to go to the gym, lift weights and attend those crazy spin classes. Mike’s favorite sport was playing and watching soccer. He was a huge Raider fan and was looking forward to going to Las Vegas to watch them play.

Mike enjoyed volunteeri­ng his time with 4H, coaching soccer, helping with school events, especially basketball, volleyball, swimming and rifle. Throughout the years he helped with many of the Summer and Christmas Strolls. He was always willing to lend a hand and be involved.

Mike always had a smile on his face and was a very gentle person. He loved music, dancing, camping, the ocean, socializin­g and spending time with his family. He l oved to BBQ and post videos on social media sharing what he was grilling while enjoying an ice cold beer. Mike made friends wherever he went and always made you feel welcomed.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Sutter Cemetery with a Celebratio­n of Life at the Sutter Youth Organizati­on to follow.

years, he decided to pursue his dream of a career in law enforcemen­t.

He began working for the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department in the jail while he put himself through the police academy. Upon graduation he was hired as a Sheriff’s Deputy for Yuba County.

During his 23-year career with the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department, Phil became a mentor and teacher to many. He was the lead investigat­or on hundreds of cases as a Detective Sergeant and worked as the leader of the Crisis Negotiatio­n Team.

He was a beloved mentor to many of his deputies, teaching them to protect and serve while maintainin­g the good-natured heart he was known for. After 23 years in law enforcemen­t he retired in April of 2016. He is remembered by his peers for his dedication to his team and his compassion for victims of violent crime.

To his friends and family, he was famous for his boundless sense of humor, his love of the San Francisco Giants, The Rat Pack, The Godfather movies, his Italian heritage, and his devotion to his loved ones. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marysville.

He is preceded i n death by his parents, Armando and Cecilia “Blanche” Spadini. He was the loving husband of Cynthia; the cherished father of Jamie (Keelan) Evanini, Kelly, Anthony, and Daniella; the adored “Nonno” of Gavin, Stella, and Hunter; t he beloved brother of Victoria; and a friend to many.

All are welcome to join us for the Rosary, Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 7:30pm, and Funeral Mass and reception Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 9:30 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 702 C St., Marysville, CA.
