Dean Edward Sellers, 79, died unexpected­ly at his home on September 8, 2021. He was born June 11, 1942, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Don and Elsie Sellers.

Dean graduated from Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College before joining the Untied State Navy. He was stationed at Mare Island Navel Shipyard in Vallejo, CA, as a Dental Assistant.

While in the Navy he went to Golden Gate College of San Francisco graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting. His diverse work history includes being a Loan Officer for Central California Federal Savings and Loan, Tax Preparer with Chipman and Renfrow Accounting, Accountant with Tudor Warehouse, and then he found his calling and was elected to the office of Yuba County Auditor and Controller in June of 1974, and retired December of 2011. He also was a referee at Triple M Raceway (Marysville Raceway) from 1975 through 1980.

He was very involved in the community being a member of the Marysville Exchange Club, Marysville Elks Lodge, Yuba City Moose Lodge, California Associatio­n of County Auditors, rang the bell for Salvation Army during Christmas time, supported the Junior Livestock Auction, Treasurer of the Marysville High School Booster Club, he coached little l eague baseball and Marysville High School golf team.

While in the Navy he met his late wife Gay Sellers ( Reynolds) on the golf course where she worked. That union produced 3 children, Cynthia Sellers (Banks), Donald Sellers, and Michael Sellers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Fred; and sister, Donna; and son, Donald.

He is survived by his brothers, Merl and Ron; his daughter, Cindy; and son, Mike; 6 grandchild­ren; and 2 greatgrand­children.

Lakeside Colonial Chapel is handling the arrangemen­ts for graveside service to be held Monday, October 4, 2021, at noon, at Sierra View Memorial Park, 4900 Olive Ave., Olivehurst, after the service there will be a potluck l unch at the Maryville Elks Lodge 920 D Street, Marysville.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Marysville Elks Lodge or Yuba City Moose Lodge.

Francis L. Adams passed away on September 6, 2021, at the age of 77, surrounded by the love of his family. Francis was born in Los Angeles, California, to

Jesse and Orpha Adams.

Francis is survived by his wife of 49 years, Merrily Adams; sons, Kevin Adams, and Brian Adams; granddaugh­ter, Nina Adams; daughter-in-law, Angela Babiszewsk­i; and brother, Ronald Adams.

Francis is predecease­d by his father, Jesse Adams; mother, Orpha Adams; brothers, Jesse Adams, and Donald Adams.

Francis was a proud marine, police officer, attorney, father and grandfathe­r. In his youth, he worked at his dad’s Flying “A” service station in Inglewood, in the Motion Picture industry and was a Hermosa Beach Police Officer. Francis joined the Yuba City Police Department in 1967, and worked his way to the rank of lieutenant.

He left law enforcemen­t to attend Mcgeorge School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor degree. Francis opened his law office in 1982. He loved the practice of law, serving his clients and serving the community. Francis always said he moved to Yuba City because he had a good hunting dog and a new shotgun. He stayed because he loved the community. It was a wonderful place to raise his family and practice law.

Francis was always active in the lives of his two sons growing up. He was their baseball and soccer coach, taught them to hunt and fish, and always played an important role in their lives. He loved family trips of houseboati­ng on Lake Oroville, fishing at Lake Almanor and snow skiing at Lake Tahoe. He traveled to Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, Canada and Alaska for fishing trips.

He was a two-time president for the Early Riser Kiwanis. Over the years, he enjoyed participat­ing and supporting many community activities such as the Bok Kai Parade, Ducks Unlimited Greenwing Program, Youth Livestock Projects, Chili Cook-offs and various charity golf tournament­s. He was a long time member and past president at Peach Tree Golf and Country Club. It was his favorite place to be on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Francis took great pride i n his family, work and helping others. He will be remembered for his character, humor, love for people and compassion. He was a loyal and loving husband, awesome father and grandfathe­r. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

A private family memorial is being planned.

February 7, 1937Septem­ber 23, 2021 John Bodle, a beloved veterinari­an, father, and grandfathe­r, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. He was eighty-four years old.

John was born in San Luis Obispo, California, to Albion and Edna Bodle in 1937. The youngest of four children, he spent his early days on a dairy farm and ranch outside of Yuba City, California. His childhood was spent milking cows, helping on the ranch, riding horses through the fields and almond groves of Sutter County, swimming in the local irrigation canals, and water skiing on the Sacramento River.

At Sutter High School he was a good student and standout player on the football team. After graduating, John joined the Naval Reserves and later attended UC Berkeley and UC Davis, where he obtained a Masters in Zoology and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees.

Animals were a big part of John’s life. Dogs, cats, birds, goats, and sundry other pets were always present. He was a natural around animals and took excellent care of thousands of people’s pets over the years.

After graduating from veterinary school, John started a successfu l veterinary practice in San Francisco on 9th Avenue and Irving Street. He later moved to Marin County and establishe­d the Family Animal Hospital in Kentfield. In the early 1990s, he relocated to the East Bay, where he ran the Animal Hospital of Pittsburg, serving and becoming a part of that community for twenty-five years.

Always a dreamer and adventurer, he loved the outdoors and he loved to travel. In 1976, he drove the family down to Panama in a four-wheel-drive camper. That trip was followed by other adventures to Alaska, Argentina, Banff National Park in Canada, SCUBA diving in the Galapagos Islands, Indonesia, and the Philippine­s with the Society of Aquatic Veterinary Medicine, and multiple visits to Costa Rica, one of his favorite places in the world.

John was an avid tennis player. He was a member of the Mount Tam Racquet Club in Larkspur and Valley Vista Racquet Club in Walnut Creek for many years. He was always happy to be on t he courts playing and socializin­g and was known for his wicked serve.

John was predecease­d by his sister, Nancy (Bill Kauk). He is survived by his loving wife, Elberta; their daughter, Josie (Brett Hartsfield); his first wife, Janet (nee Bancroft) and their t wo sons, Tristan (Elizabeth Bodle) and Ethan (Jane Hyun); his brother, Bill (Grace Bodle); his sister Jackie (Don Leas); numerous nieces and nephews; and five grandchild­ren: Albion, Lucy, Wesley, Margot, and Emmett. He will be missed.

Mike was a devoted husband and father, recently celebrated 23 years of marriage to Judy. Together t hey have t wo beautiful daughters, Kirrin and Robyn which he adored.

Mike is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Kirrin, and Robyn; his brothers, Victor (Toni), John (Elizabeth) of Sacramento, Albert (Aleta) of Redding, Robert (Jerry) of San Francisco; sisters, Esther ( Keith) of Seattle, Lupe, Rosa ( Charlie), Theresa, Estella of Sacramento, Irene (Dennis) of Nevada City; and 58 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded i n death by his sister, Mary; and parents, Juan and Ofelia Sanchez of Sacramento.

Mike attended Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento where he earned his nickname Sumo. He loved to go to the gym, lift weights and attend those crazy spin classes. Mike’s favorite sport was playing and watching soccer. He was a huge Raider fan and was looking forward to going to Las Vegas to watch them play.

Mike enjoyed volunteeri­ng his time with 4H, coaching soccer, helping with school events, especially basketball, volleyball, swimming and rifle. Throughout the years he helped with many of the Summer and Christmas Strolls. He was always willing to lend a hand and be involved.

Mike always had a smile on his face and was a very gentle person. He loved music, dancing, camping, the ocean, socializin­g and spending time with his family. He l oved to BBQ and post videos on social media sharing what he was grilling while enjoying an ice cold beer. Mike made friends wherever he went and always made you feel welcomed.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Sutter Cemetery with a Celebratio­n of Life at the Sutter Youth Organizati­on to follow.
