Earl R. Simmons, 84, of Malta, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at his residence.

He was born on January 18, 1937, in Bowling Green, KY, to the late Ezra and Virginia Stones Simmons.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force and then worked as a ground’s keeper for the Wheatl a n d C e me t e r y in Wh e a t l a n d , C A .

He is survived by 2 step-sons, Donald Moore of Chapel Hill, NC, and Donald Nicholson of Malta.

A caring cremation is t a ki ng pl a c e a t hi s wishes by the Matheney Funeral Home in Mcconnelsv­ille. or at Butte College in Chico, California. Frank took great pride in his accomplish­ments growing Butte College with special focus on the agricultur­e program, the nursing program, and the expansion of college infrastruc­ture.

Frank and Betty traveled the nation during his military service and career in education calling many places home s u c h a s Bal - timore, Maryland; San Antonio, Texas; Palm Springs, California; and Willows, California; final l y e ndi ng up in Chico, California where they built their dream home on a golf course, raised a family and grew old together.

Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, music and dancing. He adored his beautiful wife and was a loving husband and father. He was an especially proud grandfathe­r moving cross-country late in life to spend more time with his grandchild­ren.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Hutchinson; his parents and sister. Frank is survived by two sons, Craig (Cindy) Hutchinson of Maryland, and Heath (Sara) Hutchinson of Dubuque, Iowa; and grandchild­ren, Kathleen, William and Caroline Hutchinson.

The f amily would like to extend a special thanks to Christy Valdovinos and family for their exceptiona­l loving care of both Betty and Frank while in California, and the nurses and staff of Manor Care and Hospice of Dubuque for their l oving care of Frank.

Along with his parents, John Terry is preceded in death by his siblings, Jeepy Terry, Darl e ne S i nor, a nd Marli n Terr y .

He is survived by his wife, Linda Terry; his son, Neil Terry; his daughter, Alicia Cummings; 6 grandchild­ren, Khristian Cummings, Taylor Pennington, Tanner Pennington, Hannah Terry, Jackson Cummings, Hunte r Cummings; his sister, Joann Rice; and 29 nieces and nephews

It with a sad heart that we say Goodbye. Sleep now John, your guard duty has finally come to an end.

The f amily would like to encourage all that knew and l oved John to plant a tree this fall. A celebratio­n of life will be held i n t he spring to celebrate John at his favorite place in t h e S i e r r a Nev a d a mount a i n s .
