Re: Vaccine mandate

-

I quote Ms. Mccarty as saying “So sad that they have to hold our jobs, livelihood hostage. It doesn’t seem right or fair!” I must say It does however seem to have gotten your attention Ms. Mccarty. I would agree that it is unfortunate that such drastic measures had to be taken to achieve such a simplistic end to a devastating pandemic. The unvaccinated and Anti-vaxx factions of our society should be ashamed. Their arguments against vaccination have no base in fact and cripples efforts to bring the virus under control. How does one live with that level of guilt and responsibility?

The problem of course starts with the individual. First he/she must conduct a Risk vs. Benefit analysis. On the Risk side we have getting the virus; either getting sick or dying; developing some undefined level of immunity; and/or passing the virus to family and friends who may not have the same reaction you did. Or, by pure luck you remain untouched. On the Benefit side we have that feeling of joy and release that comes when receiving the vaccine. We protect family, friends and the community. We deny the virus a new body to infect.

To me this is a “No Brainer”. But even given this analysis of the facts you decide to not get vaccinated. Instead you buy into social and conservative media who poopah science. You exercise your personal freedom to supposedly “determine what you put into your body” when in fact you are choosing to support the continuation of the pandemic.

Now, because of the mandate you have to go back to square one and conduct another Risk vs. Benefit analysis. Only this time Uncle Sam has placed his thumb on the scale and you must add “possibly losing your job” to the Risk side of the equation. It has taken this type of mandate to try and convince you to come down on the right side of this issue. I believe the Biden administration has finally decided to play hardball in an attempt to curtail the pandemic and ensure a safe workplace. Your company has made a hard but necessary decision to protect their workforce. I applaud their courage. Legal challenges will not be successful. Ms. Mccarty you should get vaccinated or be regularly tested, your choice.
