Matthew Edward Weinrich – a teacher and coach to hundreds, a mentor to many, and a beloved father, uncle, and grandfathe­r – passed away November 15, 2021. He was 63years-old.

Matt was born on June 26, 1958, in Will o ws, Cal i f o r n i a to Frank Weinrich and Joyce Nolta. His childhood passion for sports led him to play football at Willows High School, and continue on as quarterbac­k for UC Davis. After finishing his bachelor’s degree in Davis, he obtained his teaching credential from CSU Chico.

After football, Matt discovered his true passion… and that was k i d s . He b e c a me a teacher at Live Oak High School i n 1985, and continued teaching until 2020. Serving not only as a teacher, but as the school’s athletic director, and coach for the baseball team. He cheri s hed hi s c a r e e r s o much, that he inevitably stepped away from his Vice Principal promotion, because he felt he was losing the true connection with his students. That’s how much he loved his job.

Matt’s hobbies included playing golf, hiki n g , c a mpi n g , a n d spending time with his children. Some of his favorite places were Lake A l mano r a n d F o r t Bragg, where he planned to visit indefinite­ly through his retirement. He will be remembered for his teasing, his dad jokes, his unfailing work ethic, and his contagious, distinctiv­e laugh.

His memory will be cherished and he will be, and he is already, dearly missed. He is survived by his three children, Tyler (Rich) Weinrich, Zach Weinrich, and Heidi Weinrich; his grandson, Hudson Weinrich; his siblings, Luke Weinrich, Andy Weinrich, Wendy Weinrich, and Dale Wann; and several nieces and nephews.

His family will be having an i n t i mate graveside service on December 6, 2021, at 1pm, at Willows Cemetery at 800 E Wood St., Willows, CA 95988.

David Martin Bushl i n g wa s b o r n o n November 26, 1937, and passed away on November 26, 2021, at home after a brief illness. David was born at Sutter Hospital to Margaret and Percy Bushling.

Da v i d g r a d u a t e d from Mcclatchy High School i n 1955 and went on to Yuba College. He graduated from Sacramento State University with a degree in accounting. He married Ann Lee Snetsinger on January 16, 1960. David received his CPA credential i n November 1967. After working at several accounting firms in the Yuba City area David opened his own practice. He taught accounting in the evenings at Yuba College in the 1970s.

David was also active in the community as a Scout Master and as the president of t he P e a c h Bowl P a c e r s track club, which included organizing and hosting the Browns Valley 10,000-meter event for several years. David loved California history e s pecial l y the Gold Rush era. He was an o u t d o o r s ma n w h o panned for gold, camped, fished and hunted. David a l s o loved backpackin­g with Ann and their 7 children. His one regret was never having hiked the Appalachia­n trail. He was an incredibly intelligen­t and kind man and we were able to enjoy his humor and intelligen­ce until the day he died.

David is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Snetsinger Bushling; his oldest s o n , Dennis Bushling; his two grandsons, Joseph and Jeremy Bushling; and his sister, Eleanor Prentice.

He is survived by two sons, Kevin Bushling and wife Lluvia, Eric Bushling and wife Jeanette; and four daughters, Angela D’ORfani and husband Renato, Laurie Staszak and husband Dan, Karen Scheidel and husband Aaron, and Pam Bushling and husband Judd. He is also survived by 9 grandchild­ren and 6 great-grandchild­ren.

Remembranc­es for David can be made to Sutter Hospice of Sacramento. A memorial will be planned for a future date as COVID restrictio­ns allow.

Melba was a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, s i s t e r , a nd friend. She passed peacefully at home into the arms of Jesus on November 18, 2021, surrounded by her family.

S h e was b o r n to Grady and Nola Hudson on February 11, 1934, i n Wal d r o n , Arkansas. The family moved to California when Melba was a child, and she lived most of her life in the Yuba-sutter area. She married the love of her l i f e , B e r n i e Ri s e n - hoover, on July 1, 1951. They were married for 68 years.

Melba served her church and community with passion and grace. In the 70’s she volunteere­d as a Pink Lady at Fremont Hospital. She was heavily involved in the Women’s Ministry program at Calvary Christian Center and served as a leader in the Missionett­es program for girls.

In her free time, Melba enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, crafting, and baking. She and Bernie also loved to camp and spent a great deal of time traveling in their motorhome.

Her favorite times were spent with her family and friends. Melba had a special warmth about her as she hosted holidays, other special occasions, and lots of sleepovers with her grandchild­ren. She had a knack for making everyone feel loved and welcome in her home. S he will be g r e a t l y missed.

Melba is survived by her daughters, Jan Steffens (Jeff) and Lynette Abbott (Bret); brothers, Dewayne Hudson (Cherie) and Tom Hudson (Karen); sister, Larenda Young (Ben); sister-in-law, Betty Huds o n; brother- i n- l a w, Truman Wilson; grandchild­ren, Allyson, Jessica (Tyler), Angela, and J a c ob (Rachel); and g r e a t - g r a ndchildren, Tyson and Finley.

She is preceded i n death by her parents, Grady and Nola Hudson; bonus mom, Lorene Hudson; husband, Bernie Risenhoove­r; son, Tim Risenhoove­r; brother, Wendell Hudson; and sister, Wanda Wilson.

T h e r e wi l l b e a private family service as she is laid to rest at Sutter Cemetery.

Peggy Linda Vallec o r s a o f Yuba Cit y passed away on October 20, 2021, i n her home, under the loving care of her family.she was 79 years old. She was born to Carl Buford Prater and Mildred Christine Wells on August 11, 1942.

Peggy (Lynn) was the loving mother to three daughters, Angela Vandell of Rocklin, Donna Hodges of Sutter, and Amy Rue of Yuba City.

She is survived by three sons-in-law, Sam Vandell, Troy Hodges, and Greg Rabina; as well as her brother, Joseph Prater. She was a loving grandmothe­r to eight grandchild­ren, and nine great-grandchild­ren, as well as a large extended loving family.

She is preceded i n death by her husband of fifty-six years, David Vallecorsa, and leaves us to j oin him in the second part of her journey.

Dr. Thomas Eugene Gibson III, passed away November 6, 2021, in his home with his son Joshua Delozier by his side.

Dr. Gibson was a dentist in the Yuba City area for over 20 years where he and his wife S hei l a I v e y Gibson worked side by side. He was a devoted husband to Sheila for 20 years until her passing August 6, 2014.

Thomas is survived by his son, Joshua DeLozier and daughter-inlaw, Ashley Delozier; his grandchild­ren, Cody Delozier, Alexis DeL o z i e r a n d Hunter Brack-young; his fatherin-law, Rev. Larry Ivy and mother-in-law, Carol Ivey.
