Ray was a volunteer Bible teacher at the rescue mission, he had a Christian radio ministry called "Walk This Way" for 10 years on KUBA radio, and his service extended as far as Africa through his cassette tape ministry.

He was pastor of the Seniors at Word of Life Church in Marysville for 10 years, serving under Pastor Stan Reynolds. He was the first chaplain for Valley Hospice in the Yuba-sutter region and worked with the organization for 10 years.

In his later years, Ray and Sylvia returned to Covelo, California to serve as pastors of the Assembly of God Church for 14 additional years.
