Cecilia Nell Geniella, 74, passed away February 7, 2023, at Adventist Health and Rideout Hospital.

She graduated from Sutter Union High School, with the class of 1966. She attended Heald Business College in Sacramento, and was a bookkeeper until her retirement.

She is survived by her son, Richard Geniella, Jr.; grandsons, Richie and Riley Geniella; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and inlaws, in the Yuba-sutter area.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Geniella; and her parents, Wayman and Wilma Webb.

No services will be held per her wishes. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel.

Inderpal Singh Thiara was born December 2, 1988, in Yuba City, California. He passed away unexpected­ly on January 31, 2023.

Inderpal is survived by his parents, Bhajan and Jasbir Thiara and his sister Pindie Sahota.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparen­ts Sadhu Singh and Niranjan Kaur Thiara and by his maternal grandparen­ts Malkiat Singh and Jito Kaur Dhillon.

Inderpal was a Doctor of Pharmacy for the past 6 years and a farmer lifelong. He enjoyed the simple things in life. He was loved by many for his kind nature and will truly be missed.

Services will be held at Chapel of the Twin Cities, 715 Shasta Street, Yuba City, CA 95991 on February 11, 2023 at 11 am. Prayer services will follow at 1 pm at Tierra Buena Sikh Temple, 2468 Tierra Buena Road, Yuba City, CA.

John Allen O’shea, 92, of Yuba City, passed away on January 6, 2023. Born in Boston in 1930, his family moved to San Francisco when he was 5 years old where he spent his childhood hunting, fishing, and playing on the beach with his brother. John attended San Francisco City College before transferri­ng to Chico State University where he met the love of his life, Cathilea Marnell Byer. He earned Bachelor degrees in Business Administra­tion and Education and a Master’s degree in Administra­tion. John served as president of the Lambda Chi fraternity, where he assumed a variety of leadership roles. John was a proud veteran of the air force. The most important event in John’s life was the marriage to Cathilea in 1955. They choose to settle and raise a family in Yuba City.

John served as an administra­tor and/or teacher at Robbins, Central Gaither, Park Avenue, and Bridge Street Schools for 30 years. Among his many accomplish­ments, he was especially proud of leading the developmen­t and institutio­n of English as a second language programs and for his work to improve transporta­tion services for handicappe­d students. John, always a sharp dresser, worked in men’s clothing to support himself through college and later at The Clothes’ Horse during summers and holidays.

Following his retirement from YCUSD, he served as a consultant, became a certified asbestos inspector, built a vacation house in Fort Bragg, grew the area’s best vine ripe tomatoes, which were sold at local produce markets and the stand on Stewart Road. John was an incredible craftsman and enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies, including cooking, stained glass, working on his MGB and his favorite, fly fishing.

Among his greatest joys, being an incredible grandfathe­r to his four grandkids.

John was a deeply caring person, a loving and dedicated family man, father and grandfathe­r. He will be missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Cathilea and children, Lisa Ravazzolo, Kevin O’shea (Audrey), and Shaun O’shea, grandchild­ren, Harrison and Reilly Ravazzolo, John and Patrick O’shea.

Darrell Jay Sewell, passed away at the age of 68, on Friday, January 27, 2023, in Stanford, CA, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side.

Darrell was born in Yuba City, CA, on January 8, 1955, and lived in Olivehurst his whole life. In his younger days he worked at the Yuba Placer Gold Fields for many years. He then became a certified Welder and Plumber; worked at Aerojet and then at All Phase Mechanical where he retired from.

In his spare time, you could always find him hunting for deer and pigs, fishing, and camping. In his retirement years he enjoyed evening rides on his Harley visiting friends and family. He has always been an avid Nascar fan.

His world revolved around his only daughter and his two grandchild­ren who he adored. He loved going to visit them often with a smoothie in hand. He was very close to all his siblings and enjoyed family get togethers.

He is survived by his daughter, Trista Carter and son-in-law, Cale Carter of Sutter; two grandchild­ren, Jaycob and Charlotte Carter of Sutter; sisters, Linda Flynn of Olivehurst, and Sandy Mccurry of Sutter; brothers, Austin Sewell and Woody Sewell both of Olivehurst; and blessed with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arson Sewell and mother, Joyce Sewell of Olivehurst.

Friends and family are invited to attend his service at Ullrey’s Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City, on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 10:00 am.
