Rich made his wishes very clear to his family. Out of deep love and a profound respect for him, his funeral and burial will be private.

Rich was a recovered alcoholic for nearly 44 years. While he never objected to anyone else drinking, he held a strong disdain toward alcoholism and the destruction it visits upon souls, lives and families. He spent nearly half of his life helping others to overcome alcoholism through the AA Twelve Step Program, his own personal experience and God, his Greater Power.

Rich was a very humble man. He held honesty and integrity to the highest standard. He believed a hard work ethic and physical strength were primary virtues in life. When he was no longer able to work and lost his physical strength, he developed and lived an inner strength, far harder and deeper, completely surrendering his will to that of God's.

Beyond his gruff demeanor, he had a heart as big as a barn. He held and holds many of you in it. His love of God, family and friends, along with his infamous laugh and handshake, comprise only a part of his legacy.

We express our deep, heartfelt thanks to Simi, whom God delivered to Dad's door when he came home from the hospital January 7, 2022. Dad and we, literally entrusted him with Dad's life. He became Dad's caregiver, companion, close and trusted friend, as well as our dear friend, truly a gift from God.

Thank you for your many prayers and thoughts for him and for our family. Thank you for understanding and helping us to honor his final requests.
