Marysville girls advance in Norcal D-IV bracket

The 13th-seeded Indians took down No. 4 Menloatherton on the road Tuesday for its first state playoff win in the California Interscholastic Federation Northern California D-IV state playoffs.
Marysville (27-5), eliminated in the semifinals of its Sac-joaquin Section tournament, responded with an early lead in the first, followed by a 14-6 third quarter to pull in front of the champions of the unbeaten Peninsula South League.

San Jose today to take on No. 5 Valley Christian (14-13) in round two of the Norcal playoffs
Pierce 55, East Union 52
Pierce’s Jocelyn Medina had 35 to help the No. 8 Bears with a narrow win over No. 9 East Union Tuesday in the California Interscholastic Federation Northern California D-IV state playoffs.
Pierce (27-3) will travel to No. 1 San Domenico (24-7) for a 7 p.m. showdown today in round two of the Norcal playoffs.

(26-6) moved on Tuesday, with the help of 23 points from Landon Humphrey and 10 each from Isaiah Travis and Joel Magallon, to advance past No. 9 Woodland Christian in the California
Interscholastic Federation Northern California D-V state playoffs.
Colusa will take on the winner of Venture Academy and Mount Shasta,which played late Wednesday, in round two today at 7 p.m. on the road.
