Allan Earl Carothers, “Big Al”, passed away on February 22, 2023, surrounded by family. He was 84 years young.

Allan was born March 30, 1938, in Madera, CA. He moved with his family to Meridian, CA, when he was 9 years old. He attended Slough School in Meridian and graduated from Sutter Union High School in 1956.

After graduating high school, Allan married the love of his life, Barbara Dennis, worked at the Colusa Hospital and joined the Army National Guard, serving his country.

Allan started his meat cutting career at Safeway and continued at Live Oak Locker and Classic Deli, for 66 years. After selling his Locker and the Deli, he still continued to cut meat for friends and family.

Throughout his life he also sold insurance, owned a gas station, and became a walnut farmer. He enjoyed laughing with many friends and family, playing cards, fishing, and harvesting his walnuts on his ranch.

Allan is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara; sister, Glenda (Gene) Taylor; his son, Rick (Sharon) Carothers; his daughter, Ronda Smith; his grandchild­ren, Heidi (Troy) Robison, Derek Carothers, Melanie Carothers, Clinton (Lyndee) Smith, Hayden (Lettie) Smith, and Paige Smith; his 6 great grandchild­ren, Avery, Emmett, Faye and Roarke Robison, Journey and Murphy Smith; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Wilma Carothers; and his son-in-law, Kelly Smith.

There will be a graveside service at the Sutter Cemetery on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 11:00 am.

July 26, 1968 February 13, 2023 Charles Diaz, "Indian Outlaw", loving husband of 15 years to Misty Diaz; son to Geneva Vargas and Roberto Diaz; Pops to Winfried Stevenson; Papaw to Nevaeh and Rowena; passed away, with the love of his life Misty at his side, after an unexpected illness. In addition he leaves behind numerous extended family and friends.

He had worked as a long haul truck driver for 30 plus years and participat­ed in numerous charitable events, including Toy Runs for the kids during the holidays.

Charlie enjoyed casual rides throughout the area both to get away and to be with friends, on his Harley Davidson Fatboy. He also enjoyed riding his Percheron mule, Seneca, to reconnect with nature. Together they would compete in shows, worked as “Outriders” for several wagon trains and rendezvous, as well as participat­ing in numerous parades throughout the year.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be Saturday, March 11, 2023. Motorcycle­s will be meeting up at the Redhill Saloon at 4721 Wheatland Rd., Wheatland, CA 95692, between 9-11am. Kickstands up at 11am for procession to the American Legion Hall, 5477 Feather River Blvd., Olivehurst, CA 95961. Potluck starting at 1pm and band starting at 2pm.

Craig Patrick Carberry was born to Jack and Jean Carberry in Washington, DC, on September 28, 1945. Shortly after the family moved to the post war boomtown of Los Angeles. Sadly, his father died before his 5th birthday. Craig and his mother settled in Temecula, CA.

During high school Craig enjoyed 4-H and held the honor of a Grand Champion steer! After high school Craig attended and graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he lived in the horse unit.

During college he was drafted into the Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return in 1969, he met his future wife Peggy, and completed his degree in Ag Business. Craig and Peggy were married on March 31, 1973, at the Santa Barbara Mission.

During Craig’s life they lived in Shell Beach, Elk Grove, Sutter, Yuba City, and finally settled in Marysville. Craig worked as a rice field rep., rice farmer, real estate broker, and tree crop farmer.

Craig loved every part of living in a small community. He volunteere­d at several local fire department­s, coached many Little League, soccer, and basketball teams. He also volunteere­d at Friends for the Preservati­on of Yuba County History, Hallwood Women’s' Club, and the Elk’s Lodge.

Craig is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Peggy; children Sean (Vanessa), Sarah, and Erin; 4 grandchild­ren, Neela, Ava, Simi, and Cole; in-laws, Toni and Dave; extended family; several "bonus children"; and dear family friends. With us in spirit will be his mom and dad; in-laws, Dick and Lorrie; sister-inlaw, Eileen; and several aunts and uncles.

Craig ended his battle with cancer on February 14, 2023. Please join us in a celebratio­n his life on March 31, 2023, at the Hallwood Community Church at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, Craig would have loved for you to donate to your favorite local charity.
