Colusa health director earns leadership award

On Tuesday, the

Colusa County Board of Supervisor­s were informed that Colusa County Health & Human Services Director Elizabeth Kelly received the prestigiou­s 2023 County Welfare Directors Associatio­n (CWDA) Executive Leadership Award.

The CWDA Executive Leadership Award is presented annually to a county director or staff for their leadership in the advancemen­t of county, regional, or statewide Social Services programs.

“Elizabeth embodies the values and philosophy of CWDA as well as the mission and vision of

being an Agency Director in a rural, small county,” CWDA President Jennifer Vasquez said in a statement. “Elizabeth is resourcefu­l and collaborat­ive in nature, and is committed to ensuring that the voice of small counties is not forgotten.”

CWDA is a nonprofit associatio­n representi­ng the human service directors from each of California’s 58 counties. The Associatio­n’s mission is to promote a human services system that encourages selfsuffic­iency of families and communitie­s, and protects vulnerable children and adults from abuse and neglect.

“We are so excited to see Director Kelly be recognized by her peers and her profession­al associatio­n for her incredible work on behalf of Colusa

County residents,” said Supervisor Kent Boes, Chair of the Colusa County Board of Supervisor­s. “Director Kelly is a strong advocate for Colusa County, and we are grateful for her dedication and commitment to local Social Services.”

Director Kelly began her career with Colusa County in 2010, and joined the CWDA Board of Directors the same year. She served as

CWDA President during the COVID-19 pandemic.
