MJUSD offers expanded after school program

Did you know that the Marysville Joint Unified School District (MJUSD) Afterschoo­l Expanded Learning program offers a robust program for over 1,200 students across 17 school sites.

In addition to providers, there are

178 credential­ed teachers hosting after school enrichment opportunit­ies to over 2,600 students district wide. These include courses such as Mariachi Orchestra, Coding and Robots, STEM, Art, Gardening, Chess, Leadership, Intramural Sports, Girls on the Run, and various hands-on enrichment activities. MJUSD’S After School program is dedicated to provide students with academic enrichment while fostering creativity and a passion for learning.

The MJUSD’S Expanded Learning Opportunit­ies Program (ELO-P) also hosts three Intersessi­ons throughout the school year, as well as a Summer Session during the month of June. The week-long intersessi­ons were held in

December and February and averaged 225 students in attendance. Each week’s focus includes themed literature, a dedicated STEAM teacher sessions, and themed assemblies. Each day, students are served nutritious meals from Nutrition Services. Our next Intersessi­on will be held during the April 1-5 break and feature the theme “Invest in Our Planet.” MJUSD families can still enroll their children in the upcoming April Intersessi­on by going to the MJUSD Website. Pete Pantoja and Lunden Dueñas, coordinato­rs for the MJUSD Afterschoo­ls Program, were part of a panel for the CDE Region 3 Winter Conference “Unlocking Potential: Strategies for Expanded Learning Programs” in April. They shared promising practices, challenges, and successes with MJUSD’S after-school program offerings with participan­ts.
