Melani Roquel Hutton, 73, of Browns Valley, CA, passed unexpected­ly at home on February 16, 2024.

Lani was born in Los Angeles County, February 11, 1951, to Truman and Maryella Warren.

Being part of a military family, Melani and her two sisters, Melinda and Melissa lived in different parts of the U.S. as children, as well as Germany.

Lani graduated from Marysville High School before attending Yuba College, and going on to work at Sunsweet in Yuba City, CA.

After high school, Lani met the love of her life, Gary. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married in Reno, NV, in 1973.

Lani and Gary settled in Gridley, CA, where they would start a family. Lani then dedicated her time to raising her two sons. The family relocated to Browns Valley, CA, in 1988.

Lani will be remembered and missed by many. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

Lani was preceded in death by her parents; and is survived by her husband, of 50 years, Gary; her two sons, Ryan (Kim) and Cory (Amy); and her six grandchild­ren: Leah, Natalie, Mallory, Lillian, Murphy and Lincoln.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held at Lani and Gary's home in Browns Valley, CA, at 2pm on May 5, 2024. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Maria De Gloria Katanic, 77, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024. She spent her final days surrounded by family and friends.

Maria was born on November 11, 1946, to Mary Jane and John Gomes.

Maria's high school sweetheart and husband, of 55 years, Frank Katanic, preceded her in death.

Maria is survived by her five children, Jennifer, Suzanne, Andrea, Rebecca, and Christophe­r; and her four grandchild­ren, Peyton, Juliet, Hunter, and Josiah.

Maria grew up in Pittsburg, CA, and graduated from high school there in 1964. She went on to attend San Jose State University and graduated in 1968, with a bachelor's degree before earning her teaching credential.

Maria taught preschool, elementary school, and English as a second language at Yuba Community College.

Maria's most beloved job was being mom to her five children and grammy to her four grandchild­ren.

Maria enjoyed expressing her creativity through drawing, sewing, quilting, and acting in plays with the Acting Company.

Maria loved the Lord and was passionate about her ministries.

She participat­ed in countless mission trips to Mexico, spent many summers serving as a counselor for the Ballet Magnificat Summer Dance Intensive, led women's Bible studies for Women's Aglow and her local churches, and served on the board of Hearts Being Healed Ministries.

Please join us as we celebrate Maria's life at 11 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Bride Church in Yuba City, CA.

Maria requested that everyone wear bright colors for the celebratio­n. Lunch will be served following the service.

Peter Joseph Spyres was born in Woodland, California, on October 5, 1954, to Max Douglas Spyres and Nancy Kathryn Kalfsbeek Spyres. He lived his entire life in Arbuckle, California.

Pete was a gifted and talented individual with a smile and personalit­y many will miss.

He earned an A&P along with his pilot's license at Sac City College.

Pete built everything from Harleys to Hardys.

After the death of his grandfathe­r, Asa Kalfsbeek, he began farming rice with his family; later transition­ing to growing almonds as part of his plan to retire.

His love of flying was life-tong and his skill legendary. He enjoyed his 40-year career as an AG Pilot flying both planes and helicopter­s being in the sky and close to God.

He lived by a simple prayer "Please start, please run, Pete wants to have fun." His final flight ended on Tuesdav, April 9, 2024, in a Modoc County rice field.

Pete married Crickett Garrison on April 20, 1977. They were married for 20 years: and had three wonderful children: Barry Spyres (Kristen), Jada Spyres {Zack) and Jilda Spyres.

Poppa Pete also leaves six grandchild­ren: Haven Spyres Wright, Cash and Asa Ortiz; Elliott, Lola and Tillie Spyres.

Pete is survived by his sister, Daurice Myres; and brother, Blaine Spyres; as well as nephews, Knute and Ted Myers; and his niece, Brittany Lima.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Nathan Spyres.

A viewing will be held Friday, April 19, 2024, 6-8 pm with a Rosary beginning at 7 pm at Mcnary-moore Chapel, 107 Fifth Street in Colusa, California.

A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday April 20, 2024, 10 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 408 Laurel Street, Arbuckle, California. Burial immediatel­y following at Arbuckle Catholic Cemetery. Reception afterward at the Arbuckle fire Hall.
