William Dorman ‘Bill’ Chamberlain
Feb. 1, 1942 May 27, 2016 William Dorman “Bill” Chamberlain, 74, a 60-year resident of Noel, Mo., departed this life on Friday, May 27, 2016, at his home after a sudden illness. He entered this life on Feb. 1, 1942, in Hampton, Iowa, the only child born to the late Rex and Mary Jane (McBride) Chamberlain.
He resided in Chicago until moving with his family to Noel as a youth, graduating from Noel High School in 1960. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving as a gunner. After being honorably discharged, he returned home to Noel in 1964. On June 18, 1965, he was united in marriage to Barbara Pew, and to this union two sons were born. He worked in the petroleum industry for several years and was vice president of Jack Pew Oil Company and JBR Inc. He was a Noel Volunteer Fireman for many years, a former McDonald County School Board Member and was a frequent patron of the McDonald County Library. He enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Barbara Chamberlain of the home; two sons, Robert Chamberlain and Kathy Martin of Joplin, Mo., and Bill Chamberlain and wife, Dianna, of Noel; five grandchildren, Teal Chamberlain, Taylor Chamberlain, Minden Chamberlain, Aidan Chamberlain and Quinci Chamberlain; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held graveside on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the Noel Cemetery in Noel. Pastor Marilyn O’Brien officiated.
The family received friends Tuesday morning in the Noel Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are being directed to the McDonald County Library, and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
