The process to condemn the house at 108 W. Williams St. needs to begin immediately, Goodman Mayor Greg Richmond told the City Council during a meeting Tuesday night.

The council concluded the house is unfit for habitation. Officials suspect there is mold inside the house, which Police Chief Curt Drake said may present a danger to the community.

Repair of the Police Department’s Expedition was discussed. Drake provided bids to the council. The council discussed the bids and agreed to get the vehicle repaired, but they did not select a bid.

The Missouri Moves, which consists of some overlays of streets, was discussed by the council. Richmond said there will be a matching grant for any work completed. The council agreed to begin the grant process.

Richmond noted that he has been working on getting the Christmas train to stop at Goodman this year. It is a six-car train open to the public. The council is in favor of having the train come to Goodman and noted that a Santa Claus will be needed when it is scheduled to stop. The council agreed to continue planning and discussing this at future meetings.

Richmond said that, when he returns from vacation in July, he wants to discuss a city celebration to occur sometime in September. Richmond suggested, because of the history of the apple orchards in the Goodman area, that an apple theme would be appropriate.

The council discussed a Municipal Court code update which is an update of ordinances. The cost

will be $895. The council agreed that this is an ongoing necessary action and will get it accomplished as soon as possible.

Richmond discussed sections of Pearl Street and noted that clarifications are needed regarding who owns the different sections of it. Richmond provided the council with a map highlighting the Pearl Street area. The council agreed to complete this action at a later date.

Departments

Drake provided the council with bids for ammunition needed by the Police Department. Richmond said this will be placed on the agenda for the next council meeting.

Drake noted that he has been looking at raincoats for the police officers and provided estimates of costs to the council. It was agreed by the council that this will be discussed at a later council meeting.

David Brodie, city supervisor, noted that a fence around the water tower is needed. It was agreed that Brodie will provide the council with bids for the fence.

Meghan Sexson, tax collector, provided the June tax reports to the council.
