Ronald Vernon “Ron” Burge, 76, of Anderson, Mo., died Sunday, July 3, 2016, in the comfort of his home after months of declining health.

He entered this life on May 13, 1940, in Ionia, Kan., one of seven children born to the late Oscar and Thora Burge. His formative years were spent in the states of Kansas and Nebraska.

On Nov. 14, 1959, he married Charlene Hagan, and they had three children. He held many vocational trades throughout his life. He enjoyed woodworkin­g and was considered a “Jack of all trades.”

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene, on July 2, 1984; four brothers: Melvin, Marlin, Kenneth and Dean Burge; and one sister, Wanda Burge.

He is survived by his three children: Tony Burge and wife, Candy, Gailene Baker and husband, Clint, and Danny Burge and wife, Tiffany, all of Anderson; two stepdaught­ers, Tammy Worley and husband, Darrell, of Cassville, Mo., and Melissa Burge of Neosho, Mo.; 20 grandchild­ren; 27 great-grandchild­ren; a brother, Dale Burge of Goodman, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held graveside at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Union Cemetery near Longview, Mo.

Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearer­s are Matt Burge, Randy Baker, Jamee Burge, Darrell Gourley, Troy Burge, Kassie Garcia and Dustin Rhoades. Rachell Jackson, Tisha Gourley, Cody Garcia, Heather Rebold and Johnna Burge will be serving as honorary pallbearer­s.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
