You Have a Promise

-

Pastor Bob’s message was a reminder of the promise that we can hold fast. In 1 Peter 1:1-5, we find that we have an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. We find this is a strong statement that assures us that our future is there for the taking. Then we are told that we who were kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. It is so important that we remain full of the power of the Holy Spirit and use our faith so we will be found ready to meet our Lord on that day.

In John 14, we are told of what waits for us in heaven. Verse 2 tells us that we will have a mansion of our very own prepared by our Lord and promised to us. We are a blessed people and often take for granted the fact that we are chosen to be a part of the family of God. 1 Corinthians 2:8-10 makes us to know just how glorious our new home will be. Verse 9 says, “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” How could we not strive to gain entrance into such a wonderful place? To really make it a perfect promise, we are going to be with our Heavenly Father and walk on streets of gold.

Now, it is our choice to either live the life that is laid out in the Word of God or to take the path of the world, which leads to a life of eternal damnation. Hell is no joke; it is a real place. There will be fire, and all who go there will be begging for a way out. Let me tell you, there will be no way out. It is forever. I keep repeating this because I want all who read this to turn to God and choose the ways we are instructed to live. Jesus is always there calling to you and offering his love and promises.

In Hebrews 4:14-16, we are again told that we should hold fast the profession of our faith. We are so fortunate to have a Savior that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, who, though he was tempted, remained without sin. He came to earth to save us and, to this day, reaches out to His own and offers promises that will one day become reality. In verse 16 of this chapter, we are told that we can come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace in time of need. How many times have I come to that place and cried out to a true and living God and received answers and help that was beyond my imagination. How great is our God, and how worthy is He to be praised.

Satan will throw stumbling blocks at the feet of the children of God. Just look around you at the people who are so discouraged because they forgot to say, “Get thee behind me, Satan!” I serve a God of Promise and He alone leads and guides me daily. All Jesus asks is that we allow Him to come into our heart and tell the world that we are now a Child of the King. Allow Jesus into your heart and you will find that your life will never be the same.

In closing Pastor Bob Cartwright told us one more time that God sent his Son that we could be forgiven, and He died on the Cross at Calvary so we can enter into a life so full of joy and blessings that we can’t even imagine.
