Oct. 23, 1953 Aug. 1, 2016 Karen Diane Potter, 62, of Jane, Mo., died Monday morning, Aug. 1, 2016. She was born Oct. 23, 1953, in Baton Rouge, La., to James and Beverly Hock.

She was raised in Louisiana and moved to Jane in 1970.

She worked as a Registered Nurse until she retired in 2003. A graduate from the University of Arkansas with a master’s degree, she loved nursing. She was a caregiver most of her life. She spent many years working as Director of Nursing for nursing homes in Arkansas and Missouri. She also worked for local doctors’ offices and set up a triage unit in Joplin after the 2011 tornado. She had a very caring heart.

She loved being “Nana” to all her grandchild­ren. She loved animals. Over the years, she had many pets, including dogs, cats and horses. She was a loving caregiver, daughter, sister, mother, grandmothe­r and friend to all. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly Fairchild Hock; a son, David Shane Collins; and a nephew, James Chad Harvey.

She is survived by her father, James Hock, of Jane;
