MCHS Boys Cross Country Finishes In Middle Of The 24-Team Pack

Truman Craig led the McDonald County High School boys’ cross country team with a 92nd place finish at the Southwest Cross Country Coaches Associatio­n Kickoff held on Saturday in Lebanon.

Craig finished just ahead of teammate Jackson Behm, who was 93rd in a time of 19:12.74. Rounding out the Mustangs results were David Lazalde, 100th, 19:59.42; Tyler Moritz, 101, 20:02.08; Caleb Curtis, 104th, 20:05.17; Alex Guadarrama, 115, 20:00.61; Lane Ziemianin, 131st, 21:05.92; Drew Landers, 187th, 21:54.14; Garrett Spears, 194th, 22:08.08; and Anthony Deering, 204th, 22:38.74.

Renden Crews of Kickapoo won the boys division in a time of 16:13.61. There were a total of 226 runners in the race.

Webb City won the team title with 55 points. McDonald County was 17th in the 24-team field with 466 points.

Girls Division

McDonald County was led by freshman Addy Mick’s 61st place in a time of 22:47.77. Other McDonald County results were Andrea Creason, 91st, 24:25.11; Cassi Dowd, 117th, 25:11.61; and Natalie Staib, 136th, 26:20.67.

Claire Workman of Summit Preparator­y won the race in a time of 18:40.86. There were 165 runners in the girls’ race.

Branson won the team title.

MCHS could not field a full team of five runners.

McDonald County’s next race is the Southern Stampede set for Sept. 17 at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

Junior Varsity

McDonald County had two runners compete in the 2-mile junior varsity boys’ race. Elijah Nelson was 55th out of 105 runners in a time of 14:32.42 while Joseph Beavor was 86th in 16:03.33.

Colin Harrison of Webb City won the race in 11:53.42.

Istarlin Aden led McDonald County in the girls’ junior varsity race. Aden finished in 57th place in a time of 19:09.70. Annika Blair was 72nd in a time of 20:30.99. There were 76 runners in the field.

Maddison Pardeck of Branson won the girls’ JV race in 14:04.61.
