ESA Reflects On Summer And Plans For Fall

Eleven Lambda Chi of ESA sisters gathered Sept. 7 at Anderson United Methodist Church for a meal hosted by Judy Duncan and Myra Christerson.

The business meeting was called to order by President Shirley Alps with an opening devotional by Debbie Alumbaugh. The meeting was an opportunity to reflect on a successful summer and plan for a busy fall.

Summer began in the home of Alice Snodgrass, with Margie Edmonds serving as co-hostess. Scholarships had just been granted, and the Outstanding Youth Awards had been presented to McDonald County students. The chapter began plans for hosting the ESA State Convention in April 2017 at Indigo Sky Casino and shortrange plans for contributing fruit desserts at the McDonald County Fair in July.

The July meeting was hosted by Lynn Tatum at the Historic McDonald County Courthouse in Pineville. Chicken salad sandwiches, fresh fruit and desserts on vintage tablecloths and plates were catered by the museum board, which recently began to book the museum for meetings and small receptions. The business meeting was held in the courtroom, and ESA sisters could enjoy the display of 100 years of fashion visible there and throughout the courthouse.

At the August meeting, held at the Anderson United Methodist Church, plans were finalized for catering the Anderson Class of 1959 over the Labor Day weekend in Grove, Okla.

The recent September meeting brought a successful report on that catering and the possibility of two additional catering events this fall. Catering is a major source of funding for the scholarships and youth awards given each spring.

On Sept. 16-17, Judy Duncan, Judy Rickett and Alice Snodgrass will attend the ESA State Leadership Fall meeting at Lake Ozark.

The evening’s educational was led by Judy Duncan as she picked questions from the scavenger hunt quiz developed for touring fourth-graders at the McDonald County Museum.
