Early Lead Not Enough For Soccer Team
Aurora erased an early McDonald County lead with four consecutive goals in the first half, then held on in the second half for a 4-2 win over the Mustangs on Sept. 29 at Aurora High School.
McDonald County scored its lone first-half goal just two minutes into the match when Eh Doh Say knocked in a pass from Dylan Allison.
Aurora answered with four goals before intermission to take a 4-1 lead at halftime.
McDonald Cut the lead to 4-2 in the 78th minute on a goal by Ricardo Ramirez, but the Mustangs could get no closer.
The McDonald County junior varsity picked up a 1-0 win in a 35-minute half. Roberto Ruiz scored the lone goal of the game while Larry Selby had several crucial saves to preserve the victory.
McDonald County is now 2-11 heading into its next match on Oct. 4 at College Heights in Joplin.
Cassville
Cassville’s Aaron Camarillo scored the only goal the Wildcats would need in the 22nd minute to lead Cassville to a 2-0 win over McDonald County on Sept. 27 at MCHS.
Camarillo’s goal came on a direct free kick from just outside the penalty box.
The Wildcats added a second half insurance goal in the 55th minute when Austin Sneed got free at midfield and outraced the Mustangs defense before slipping a shot past McDonald County’s Arturro Morales from short range.
