First Quarter Enough For 7th-Grade Football

Bo Leach ran for three touchdowns while Junior Eliam ran for one and Cole Martin hit Levi Malone for another as the McDonald County seventh-grade football scored all of its 38 points in the first quarter to cruise to a 38-0 win over Cassville Sept. 29 at Cassville.

Eliam got the Mustangs first quarter scoring bonanza started with a 26-yard touchdown run. Leach then added a 37-yarder with Eliam running the conversion. Martin and Malone hooked up for a 35-yard touchdown followed by the conversion run by Andrew Watkins to put the Mustangs up 22-0.

Leach took care of the Mustangs’ final two touchdowns, the first coming from 40 yards out and second from 36 yards. Malik Taylor ran for the first conversion and Martin capped off the scoring with the second conversion.

The McDonald County seventh graders are now 3-1 for the season heading into their Oct. 6 game against Aurora at MCHS. The game has been designated a “Pink Out” game. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m.

Eighth Grade

The McDonald County eighth graders dropped a 38-0 decision to the Wildcats to fall to 0-4 for the season. Cassville led 22-0 after the first quarter and took a 38-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Shadow Keeling and Kaiden Campbell led the defense for the Mustangs while Jackson Clarkson and Bailey Lewis led the ground game.

The eighth-graders face Aurora Oct. 6, following the seventh-grade game.
