Circuit Clerk Office Serving The Citizens
Jennifer Mikeska has been the circuit clerk for McDonald County since 2000 and is in the second year of her second term.
There are nine staff members at the circuit clerk’s office, circuit clerk, chief clerk, bailiff, and seven deputy clerks.
Stephanie Sweeten has been bailiff at the circuit court since 1999; Tanya Lewis, chief clerk, since 1994; Lori Sellers, deputy clerk, since 2004; Jessica Bergen, deputy clerk, since 2011; Sheryl Kimbrell, deputy clerk, since 2009; Laura Williams, deputy clerk, since 2003; Courtney Bohannon, Athena Thacker, and Debby Daniels, deputy clerks since 2016.
It is a very busy office and is responsible for:
• filing and processing records and maintaining all civil and criminal cases and certain traffic tickets;
• handling court docket and collecting court costs;
• processing child support cases;
• handling all particulars regarding jury selection;
• handling divorce filings, probate actions, small claims and passports.
Mikeska said “my objective is to make sure all employees in the circuit clerk office receive proper training and equipment — everything they need to do their jobs.”
“Our goal is to help the people in the county and our hope is that every person leaves our office satisfied,” Tanya Lewis, chief clerk said. “wW try our best to serve the citizens of the county.”
