-

July 15, 1940 Nov. 10, 2016 Karen Lee (Donald) Hack, 76, beloved mother and grandmother, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016. She was born July 15, 1940, in Mildred, Kan., to Howard and Margery Donald.

She grew up on a farm. After graduating from Moran High School in 1958, she attended nursing school. In 1959, she left nursing school to marry the love of her life, Eddie Wayne Hack of Humboldt, Kan. She graduated from Surgical Technology School in 1991 and worked as an assistant in orthopedic surgery.

Over the course of her life, she pursued many passions. She had the gift of hospitality and loved to cook and entertain. She was almost always in her kitchen cooking or enjoying a cup of coffee with one of her many friends. She loved all people and never met a stranger. Her love of people took her on mission trips to Kenya, where she helped inoculate children, as well as Mexico for building projects.

Her greatest passion was her love of the Lord. While living in Tulsa, she served and sang in choirs at both New Haven Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church. She loved enjoying God’s creation through gardening. Her gardens were beautiful works of art and were planned with much anticipation all winter. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with family. Her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were her pride and joy.

She and Ed retired to Pineville, Mo., in 2000. There they were very active in music and mission ministries at the Village Bible Evangelical Free Church in Bella Vista, Ark.

In 2011, Karen moved to Lantana, Texas, to be closer to family. She was an active member of Crossroads Bible Church in Double Oak, Texas. She loved attending Bible studies and small groups and cherished the memories made with the Tender Hearts Widows group. She also would regularly play piano and lead worship at local nursing homes once a month.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ed Hack; and her parents.

She is survived by her children, Steven Hack of Collinsville, Okla., Andrea Herndon and husband Mark of Flower Mound, Texas, David Hack of Denver; grandchildren, Kelsey Clardy and husband Kyle, Garrett Hack and wife Jenna, Emily Hack, and Natalie Herndon; great-grandchildren, Hollis Hack, Jordan Clardy and Wilson Clardy; siblings, Dwight Donald of Platte City, Mo., Dee Ann Parsons of Chanute, Kan., and Dale Donald of Knoxville, Tenn.; and countless other family members and friends who treasured her.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at Crossroads Bible Church, 8101 Justin Road, Double Oak, Texas.
