President’s Heart In The Hands Of The Lord

- Mill Creek Baptist Church

We wished a happy birthday to Becky Johnson as we gathered to worship Sunday morning at Mill Creek Baptist Church. We welcomed visitors LaDawn Drake and Derek Drake.

Special prayers were requested for Mary Ann, travel prayers for some, Ken Crowder, Angela and Layne Killion.

We had good food and fellowship Saturday evening at our Community Dinner. Special thanks to Don Brackney and Carrie Edens for their help.

Linda Abercrombie gave the devotional “Fear of the Lord” and read Proverbs 14:27, “The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death.” There are all kinds of fears that we deal with — fears in our hearts, about finances and our future. Fear can spread like wildfire unless we know how to neutralize its effect. Fear of the Lord is not a wrathful fear. That fear helps us with wisdom, safety, prosperity, a long life and gives us a strong foundation. To fear the Lord is to revere Him and please Him. It is like walking beside someone who protects you. He can reduce and reorder your fears in life giving you a foundation.

We were blessed with special music from Jerry Abercrombie who sang “Sweet Beulah Land,” and congregational hymns included “I Am Resolved” and “Wonderful Words of Life,” led by Becky Johnson and Karen Gardner.

Rick Lett asked God’s blessing, and he and Tyrel Lett served as offertory ushers.

Bro. Mark Hall read Proverbs 21:1: “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.”

Bro. Mark told us that regardless of who was elected as our new president, the Bible tells us our new president’s heart is in the hands of the Lord. We owe it to our new president to pray for him and ask God to use him to further God’s kingdom.

“If we don’t pray or vote, we cannot complain. We need to commit to praying for our country. God can use the most unlikely people to lift our country to a Godly nation.”

Bro. Mark also recognized and thanked our veterans present — Wayne Johnson and Tom Sharp — for their service to our country. Bro. Mark led the congregation in prayer for our new president, our country, our veterans and our missionaries.

We were blessed to have Derek Drake of Southwest City speak to us about his recent mission trip to Greece. Derek talked about his street ministry in Amsterdam and how he initiated conversation about the gospel. He spent a lot of time in camps ministering to the refugees who need to see that Christ and God are real and that Jesus Christ died for them.

Derek told us, “The best form of evangelism is to show people Jesus and let them know that you love them. Let people know you are a Christian, what you are and that you live like Jesus. They are people made by God just like us who need Christ just like us.”

Derek told us that the mission trip gave him a realistic perspective on life as a Christian.

Tom Sharp gave the benediction.

“Come and See” will be the theme of our entry in the Southwest City Christmas Parade Dec. 3. There will be a shower for Jamie and John Dec. 4, and our Christmas Program will be on Sunday, Dec. 18 during our morning worship service.

During this Thanksgiving season, take time to count your blessings and thank God for all He does for you. His blessings abound us and our faith in Him sustains us. Faith and family make the season truly special.

We invite you to worship with us on Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. Mill Creek is located 3.5 miles east of Noel, just off Highway 90.

Everyone is welcome.
