8th-Grade Lady Mustangs Remain Undefeated

The McDonald County eighthgrad­e girls’ basketball team remained undefeated with a pair of Big 8 Conference wins last week.

The Lady Mustangs improved to 6-0 on the season with wins over Lamar and East Newton.

Against Lamar Nov. 7 at Pineville Junior High School, Jersey Wolfenbarg­er scored 16 points and Lily Allman had 13 to lead McDonald County to a 50-31 win. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Mustangs were Caitlyn Barton with six points, Mollie Milleson four, Laney Wilson three and Kristen Penn, Alyssa Sanchez, Sydney Killion and Erin Cooper two each.

McDonald County followed that win with a 59-21 victory over East Newton Nov. 8, also in Pineville.

Wolfenbarg­er scored 35 points, including six three-pointers, to lead McDonald County. Wilson added 10 points while Milleson had six points, Penn four, Killion two and Cooper two to round out the scoring.

Seventh Grade

McDonald County’s seventhgra­de girls’ basketball team split their games against the same two teams to fall to 4-2 on the season.

Kloe Myers scored nine points to lead a balanced scoring attack that lifted the McDonald County seventh grade girls’ team to a 30-21 over Lamar Nov. 7 at Anderson Middle School. Nicole Estrada added eight points while Madison Grider had six, Abigail Wiseman five and Adasyn Leach two to round out the scoring.

East Newton defeated McDonald County for the second time this season with a 30-16 win Nov. 8 in Anderson. The Lady Patriots previously claimed a 36-16 win in the finals of their own tournament earlier this season.

McDonald County was led by Estrada with eight points followed by Wiseman with four, Kalyn Stetina two and Myers and Ebenee Munoz one each.

McDonald County traveled to Aurora Nov. 14 and hosted Cassville Nov. 15 in Big 8 Conference contests before they head to Neosho for a nonconfere­nce game Nov. 17. Games begin at 5:30 p.m.
