Mustangs Win Powerlifting Meet At Joplin
Led by individual winners Nolan Baisch, Elliott Wolfe, Jake Will, Isrrael De Santiago, Marshall Foreman and Emanuel Baisch, McDonald County High School defeated Joplin and Glendale to win the Joplin Powerlifting Meet held Jan. 28 at Joplin High School.
Will claimed the cruiserweight title with a 1,070-pound total. The senior set personal records in all three lifts, including a 475-pound squat, a 285-pound clean and a 320-pound bench.
De Santiago also set personal records in all three lifts (430pound squat, 305-pound bench and 280-pound clean) to win the welterweight class.
Emanuel Baisch won the featherweight class with a total of 825 pounds. He set personal bests of 365 pounds in the squat, 235 pounds in the bench and 225 pounds in the clean.
Nolan Baisch took first in the heavyweight division with a three lift total of 1,030 pounds, including a personal best of 530 pounds in the squat.
Foreman claimed first in the flyweight division with a total of 680 pounds, including personal record of 200 pounds in the clean.
Wolfe won the super heavyweight division with a total of 970 pounds.
Other McDonald County results included Wyatt Griffith, second, cruiserweight, 745 pounds (personal records of 315 squat, 215 bench, 225 clean); Jamie Hanke, second, heavyweight, 1,005 pounds (personal bests of 425 squat, 285 clean); Oakley Roessler, second, lightweight, 805 pounds; Corvin Black, third, light heavyweight, 880 pounds; and Micah Burkholder, third, welterweight, 805 pounds.
Other McDonald County lifters not placing in the top three but setting personal records included Trey Black, 245-pound clean; Kennedy Hodson 235-pound clean; Will Gordon, 330 squat, 205-bench, 190-pound clean; Cole DelosSantos, 260-pound squat; and, Erin Yang, 215-pound squat, 150-pound bench, 155-pound clean.
