Jarvis Clayton Spears Jr., 83, of Neosho, Mo., stepped into Heaven on Wednesday morning, March 1, 2017, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1933, in his home in Anderson, Mo., to the late Jarvis Sr. and Stella Spears.

He worked at BF Goodrich in Kansas City, Mo., and New Mac Electric in Neosho. He was a former owner of Goodman Food Locker in Goodman, Mo. He retired in 1998 as head of quality control of Hudson Foods in Noel, Mo., after more than 20 years of service. Most importantl­y, he faithfully served as pastor in many churches in the surroundin­g area. He establishe­d Hilltop Mission Church in 1978.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard Spears; two sisters, Delpha Crawford and Geneva Jeske; and two granddaugh­ters, Jennifer Spears and Harleigh Webster.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Darleen Spears; his sons, Kenny Spears and wife Mona, Steve Spears and wife Michelle, Donnie Spears and wife Amanda, Rod Webster and wife Lori, Chris Webster and wife Jennifer and Mike Webster and wife Senora; 19 grandchild­ren; 22 great-grandchild­ren; four siblings, Harold Spears and wife Cloetta, Charles Spears, Marie Eads and Margaret Tallent; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, March 4, 2017, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Donnie Spears and Mark Hall officiatin­g. Burial followed in the New Bethel Cemetery. His sons honored his life by serving as pallbearer­s.

The family received friends on Friday evening in the funeral home.

Memorials are being directed to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House c/o the funeral home.
