Powerlifte­rs Finish Ninth At State Meet

McDonald County High School finished ninth out of 15 teams at the Missouri Powerlifti­ng Championsh­ips held March 17 at Glendale High School in Springfiel­d.

Top lifts for the Mustangs included a 555-pound back squat by Nolen Baisch for a new state record in the 250-pound weight class. Baisch later recorded a personal record of 580 pounds in a fourth attempt. Elliott Wolfe recorded a 540-pound deadlift in the unlimited heavyweigh­t division.

Individual class rankings for McDonald County are:

• Erin Yang, 125 pound class, second place

• Marshall Foreman, 155 pound division, 10th place

• Micah Burkholder, 185 pound division, seventh place

• Isrrael De Santiago, 195 pound division, third place

• Jake Will, 210 pound division, second place

• Nolen Baisch, 250 pound division, seventh place

• Elliott Wolfe, unlimited heavyweigh­t division, third place.

Athletes setting personal records were:

• De Santiago, bench press, 310 pounds

• Wolfe, bench press, 305 pounds

• Foreman, bench press, 200 pounds

• De Santiago, back squat, 455 pounds

• Foreman, back squat, 310 pounds

• Yang, back squat, 220 pounds

• Wolfe, back squat, 440 pounds

• Baisch, back squat, 580 pounds

• Yang, deadlift, 320 pounds

• Foreman, deadlift, 335 pounds

• Wolfe, deadlift, 540 pounds.
