Carolyn Kay McGuffey, 74, of Stella, Mo., departed this life on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family after a recent decline in health. She entered this life on Aug. 9, 1942, in Pineville, Mo., daughter of Maurice and Doris Ellis.

She was a lifelong resident of McDonald County, Mo., and a 1960 graduate of Rocky Comfort High School.

On Jan. 16, 1960, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Ray McGuffey, and to this union a son and daughter were born. Throughout her life, she was a hardworkin­g and devoted homemaker as well as a helpmate to her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed fishing, attending her grandchild­ren’s sporting events and visiting area casinos. She was a member of the Union Chapel Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Kenneth McGuffey, on July 10, 2016; and a brother, Ron Ellis.

She is survived by her two children, Billy Ray McGuffey and wife Terri, of Neosho, Mo., and Melinda Parsons and husband, Ron, of Stella; five grandchild­ren, Megan Knox and husband Zach of Stella, Tiffany Lewis and husband, Ryan, of Pineville, Ryan Lawson and husband, Zach, of Grove, Okla., Mattie Woodrum and husband, Alfred, of Neosho and Caleb McGuffey and wife, Vanessa, of Grove; six great-grandchild­ren, Rayne Knox, Skye Knox, Kole Lewis, Payton Lewis, Aiden and Zane Ray McGuffey; two sisters, Ruth Ann Goostree of Wheaton, Mo., and Janell Brattin also of Wheaton; and a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss her.

Funeral services were Friday, March 17, 2017, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Brother Mark Sumler officiatin­g.

Burial followed in the Union Cemetery in Stella. Doug Goostree, Dan Goostree, Caleb McGuffey, Matthew Francisco, Ryan Lewis, Zach Knox, Zach Lawson and Alfred Woodrum honored her life by serving as pallbearer­s.

The family received friends on Thursday evening in the funeral home chapel.

Memorials are being directed to the Union Chapel Church c/o the funeral home.
