Laura Carolyn Gideon, 82, of Pineville, Mo., departed this life on Friday morning, March 17, 2017, at the McDonald County Living Center after a long illness. She entered this life on Feb. 28, 1935, in Pineville, Mo., born to the late Cecil and Josephine (Wardlaw) Price.
She graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Okla. In 1956, she graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing in Tulsa. On Feb. 1, 1958, in Vinita, Okla., she was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Gideon and to this union one daughter was born. They resided in Harrisburg, Ill., and Hawaii before moving home to Pineville, Mo., in 1980. She was a dedicated registered nurse for over 39 years, retiring in 1995 because of health concerns. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, bird watching and spending time with her family. She was a devout Catholic throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two siblings, John Price and Frances Nichols.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Chuck Gideon; a daughter, Cathi Sweat and husband, Jim, of Coweta, Okla.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Thursa Plumlee and husband, Jerry, of Rogers, Ark.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Memorial services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2017, at St. Canera’s Catholic Church in Neosho, Mo., with Father Derek Swanson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being directed to the McDonald County Living Center Resident Activities Fund c/o the funeral home.
