March Sales Tax Receipts

Sales tax receipts for March, when compared to 2016 receipts for the same time period, show that revenue for the county is down, on average, $40,000 in each account. Pineville, Anderson, and Noel saw an increase in deposits while Southwest City saw a decrease and Goodman saw nothing.

Last September, $28,450.02 was deposited into General Revenue from sales tax revenue — nearly $21,000 more than expected. City officials contacted the Missouri Department of Revenue for confirmation and, after investigation, it was recently determined that the funds were wrongly distributed.

To rectify this error, the DOR will withhold sales tax deposits to Goodman until the surplus sum has been collected. City Clerk Karla Norton said it will be approximately four months before the city receives another deposit.
