McDonald County Loses To Carthage

Carthage overcame a 4-0 first-inning deficit to claim a 9-5 win over McDonald County in a nine-inning 18U baseball game on June 15 at McDonald County High School.

Carthage overcame a 4-0 first-inning deficit to claim a 9-5 win over McDonald County in a nine-inning 18U baseball game on June 15 at McDonald County High School.

McDonald County scored four runs in the bottom of the first on four hits and an error. Joe Brown and Trey Black had RBI singles while Charlie Moore capped the inning with a two-run double.

Carthage scored two runs in the top of the second on two walks and a hit and one in the fifth on two hits and a walk off of Brown. Brown worked the first five innings for McDonald County, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out five.

Carthage scored two runs in the sixth off of Moore on a walk, two hits and an error to take a 5-4 lead. In the eighth, Carthage added four insurance runs, touching up Moore for five hits and two hit batters before Raygan Bradley shut out Carthage in the ninth on one hit.

McDonald County added a run in the bottom half of the eighth. Brown singled before Black was hit by a pitch and Izak Johnson walked to load the bases. Moore drove in his third run of the game with a fielder’s choice.

Brown, Johnson, Ty Shaver and Dylan Teague had two hits each for McDonald County while Oakley Roessler, Caleb Curtis and Black had one each.

Neosho

McDonald County was swept in a doublehead­er at Neosho on June 13.

In the seven inning first game, Neosho scored eight unearned runs to claim a 9-6 win. Grant Cooper was the tough-luck loser, allowing just one earned run in seven innings.

Shaver led McDonald County at the plate with three singles. Black had a single and drove in two runs while Johnson, Moore, James King and Reece Cooper also had one hit each.

Neosho claimed a 12-2 win in the five-inning nightcap. Bradley started on the mound while Johnson finished.

Roessler led McDonald County with two hits while Shaver, Brown and Grant Cooper had one each.

McDonald County fell to 7-8 entering its June 21 game against Diamond before hosting Neosho on June 22.
