June Sales Tax Down For County

Sales tax receipts for June, when compared to 2016 receipts for the same time period, show that revenue is down for the county as a whole but most towns — with the exception of Southwest City — saw an increase in revenue from this time last year.

Due to an error in distribution, sales tax deposits to Goodman are still being withheld until the surplus sum has been collected. City Clerk Karla Norton said it will be approximately four months before the city receives another deposit.

In September, $28,450.02 was deposited into General Revenue from sales tax revenue — nearly $21,000 more than expected. City officials contacted the Missouri Department of Revenue for confirmation and, after investigation, it was recently determined that the funds were wrongly distributed.

Sales tax receipts for June distributed in July are listed first below. They are followed by last year’s figure with the difference between the two, whether an increase or decrease, listed last.
