El­lick Ed­ward Gar­ren, 78, en­tered into eter­nal rest on Aug. 18, 2017, in Carthage, Mo., fol­low­ing an ex­tended ill­ness. He was born March 3, 1939, in McDon­ald County, Mo., the son of Lester Alexan­der Gar­ren Sr. and Lu­cile Cole Gar­ren An­der­son.

He was a life­long area res­i­dent and had owned and op­er­ated a con­struc­tion busi­ness, El­lick Gar­ren Ex­ca­vat­ing for over 40 years and was a cat­tle farmer. He was a mem­ber of the Neosho Ma­sonic Lodge over 50 years and was a 32nd de­gree Ma­son. He was a mem­ber of McNatt Bap­tist Church.

He and Car­lene Louise Martin were mar­ried on March 18, 1958, in Mi­ami, Okla.

He is pre­ceded in death by his par­ents; two sis­ters, Geneva Tichenor and Luann Jones.

He is sur­vived by his wife of the home; four chil­dren, Dou­glas Ed­ward Gar­ren of Jo­plin, Mo., De­lene L. McCoy and hus­band, Greg of Osage, Ark., Duane L. Gar­ren and wife, Micki of Monett, Mo., and Daric C. Gar­ren and wife, Melissa of Di­a­mond, Mo.; 14 grand­chil­dren; six great-grand­chil­dren; two broth­ers, Loren Gar­ren of Good­man, Mo., and Lester A. Gar­ren Jr. of Stella, Mo.; one sis­ter, Cloetta Brady of Stella; and nu­mer­ous nieces, neph­ews and friends.

Ser­vices were held at 1 p.m. Tues­day, Aug. 22, 2017, at the Clark Fu­neral Home Chapel of Mem­o­ries of Neosho, Mo., with Pas­tor Jim Martin of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment fol­lowed in the Union Ceme­tery in Stella and his fam­ily hon­ored him by serv­ing as pall­bear­ers. The fam­ily re­ceived friends at a time of vis­i­ta­tion Mon­day evening at the fu­neral home from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
