Ellick Edward Garren, 78, entered into eternal rest on Aug. 18, 2017, in Carthage, Mo., following an extended illness. He was born March 3, 1939, in McDonald County, Mo., the son of Lester Alexander Garren Sr. and Lucile Cole Garren Anderson.

He was a lifelong area resident and had owned and operated a constructi­on business, Ellick Garren Excavating for over 40 years and was a cattle farmer. He was a member of the Neosho Masonic Lodge over 50 years and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of McNatt Baptist Church.

He and Carlene Louise Martin were married on March 18, 1958, in Miami, Okla.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Geneva Tichenor and Luann Jones.

He is survived by his wife of the home; four children, Douglas Edward Garren of Joplin, Mo., Delene L. McCoy and husband, Greg of Osage, Ark., Duane L. Garren and wife, Micki of Monett, Mo., and Daric C. Garren and wife, Melissa of Diamond, Mo.; 14 grandchild­ren; six great-grandchild­ren; two brothers, Loren Garren of Goodman, Mo., and Lester A. Garren Jr. of Stella, Mo.; one sister, Cloetta Brady of Stella; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories of Neosho, Mo., with Pastor Jim Martin officiatin­g. Interment followed in the Union Cemetery in Stella and his family honored him by serving as pallbearer­s. The family received friends at a time of visitation Monday evening at the funeral home from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
