July 11, 1930 Aug. 17, 2017 Claude William Prewit, 87, entered into rest on Aug. 17, 2017, at his home in Anderson, Mo. He was born on July 11, 1930, in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Claude and Ora B. (Johnson) Prewitt.

He served in the U.S. Army from July 1948 to July 1968, serving in the 5th Special Forces, Green Beret. He served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War and was stationed all over the world. He was honorably discharged as a Major. Following his discharge, he was a cattle rancher. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He married Ruth (Crofut) on Nov. 26, 1940, and she preceded him in death in 2005. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Prewitt.

He is survived by two children, Roseanna K. P. McClure of Pittsburg, Kan., and David William Prewitt of Gilbert, Ariz.; three grandchild­ren, Justin David Prewitt, Colleen Ruth Mulhollen and Dustin William McClure; and three great-grandchild­ren, Alainna Mulhollen, Carson Mulhollen and Harrison Clifford Prewitt.

He has been taken for cremation and no services are planned at this time.

God’s house was full as we gathered to worship at Mill Creek Baptist Church Sunday and celebrate 113 years of our church with our annual Homecoming. Susan Cory and Levi Hamilton were celebratin­g birthdays and special prayers were requested for Mildred Cook, the Bob Parish family and Debbie Taylor.

“Trigger” was the devotional given by Linda Abercrombi­e as she read Psalm 29:10-11. Our response to watching the news we hear each day can trigger our anxiety. Packing too much into our day can trigger our anxiety. We need to limit that anxiety because the “what if ” can drain our energy. Ask God for wisdom to help us handle what triggers us and threatens our peace.

Rick Lett asked God’s blessing upon the offertory and he and Wayne Johnson served as ushers followed by the congregati­onal hymn “The Gloryland Way” lead by Becky Johnson and Karen Gardner. We were blessed with special music and songs of praise during our song service and after lunch by Spring Street, a gospel bluegrass group from northeaste­rn Oklahoma.
