Mr. Roger Dale Smith, 64, of Anderson, Mo., departed this life on Friday morning, Aug. 25, 2017, at the McDonald County Living Center in Anderson, after a recent battle with cancer.
He entered this life on June 29, 1953, in Wheaton, Mo., born to the union of the late Cliss Henry and Alma Louise (Day) Smith. He was raised on a farm near Powell, Mo., and was a lifelong resident of McDonald County. He was a very social individual who always wore a smile. He enjoyed playing games, listening to music, was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and tool collector. Roger was a member of the Anderson First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sister, Johnnie Buchanan and husband, John, of Powell; a niece, Rhonda Bouvier and husband, Jeff, of Powell; a nephew, Troy Buchanan and wife, Stephanie, of Anderson; five great-nieces and nephews, Mykkah, Hayden, Tristain, Samuel and Kyla; three half-siblings, Clistine, Peggy and Harold; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith were at 11 a.m. Aug. 29, 2017, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Bro. John Beck and Bro. Jerry Siegel officiating. Burial followed in the Rocky Comfort Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers were Troy Buchanan, Tristain Buchanan, John Buchanan, William Parrish, Hayden Bouvier, Samuel Bouvier and Jeff Bouvier. The family received friends on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to the McDonald County Living Center Activities Fund c/o the funeral home.
