July 6, 1921 Sept. 5, 2017 Stan­ley F. Garwacki, 96, passed away Tues­day, Sept. 5, 2017, at Clar­ity Point As­sisted Liv­ing in Fayet­teville, Ark.

He was born July 6, 1921, to Stanis­laus and Veron­ica Garwacki in St. Louis, Mo., where he lived un­til 1988 when he moved to Hot Springs Vil­lage, Ark.

He served in the Army Air Forces dur­ing World War II, and held the rank of Sergeant with the Sec­ond Com­bat Cargo Squadron in the China Of­fen­sive in In­dia-Burma. Dur­ing his tour of duty, he re­ceived three Bronze Stars. He re­turned home to marry Mar­garet Grell­ner in 1947, who pre­ceded him in death in 1992. He mar­ried the late He­len Batkiewicz in 1997. He was an avid golfer, loved to dance and en­joyed play­ing cards. He was a mem­ber of the VFW, Knights of Colum­bus Fourth De­gree, Amer­i­can Le­gion and Men’s Club of Scared Heart of Je­sus.

He was pre­ceded in death by his sib­lings, John Garwacki, Wanda Groszek and He­len Dy­on­zak. He is sur­vived by many nieces and neph­ews and their fam­i­lies; stepchil­dren; and step­grand­chil­dren.

Fu­neral mass was held on Mon­day, Sept. 11, 2017, at Sa­cred Heart of Je­sus Catholic Church in Hot Springs Vil­lage, Ark. Visi­ta­tion was at noon, be­fore the 1 p.m. Mass. Fa­ther Bill Esler of­fi­ci­ated. In­ter­ment will be at 1 p.m. on Fri­day, Sept. 15, 2017, at the Res­ur­rec­tion Ceme­tery in St. Louis, Mo., fol­low­ing a brief ser­vice at the ceme­tery chapel.
