July 6, 1921 Sept. 5, 2017 Stanley F. Garwacki, 96, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at Clarity Point Assisted Living in Fayettevil­le, Ark.

He was born July 6, 1921, to Stanislaus and Veronica Garwacki in St. Louis, Mo., where he lived until 1988 when he moved to Hot Springs Village, Ark.

He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II, and held the rank of Sergeant with the Second Combat Cargo Squadron in the China Offensive in India-Burma. During his tour of duty, he received three Bronze Stars. He returned home to marry Margaret Grellner in 1947, who preceded him in death in 1992. He married the late Helen Batkiewicz in 1997. He was an avid golfer, loved to dance and enjoyed playing cards. He was a member of the VFW, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, American Legion and Men’s Club of Scared Heart of Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, John Garwacki, Wanda Groszek and Helen Dyonzak. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families; stepchildr­en; and stepgrandc­hildren.

Funeral mass was held on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Hot Springs Village, Ark. Visitation was at noon, before the 1 p.m. Mass. Father Bill Esler officiated. Interment will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at the Resurrecti­on Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo., following a brief service at the cemetery chapel.
