Regional Grazing School To Be Held In Early October
STOCKTON — The Cedar County Soil and Water Conservation District, University of Missouri Extension and Natural Resources Conservation Service, are working together to put on a regional grazing school in the Stockton area in early October.
The grazing school will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 3, Oct. 5, Oct. 10 and Oct. 12. The final field day portion of the school will begin at 8 a.m. Oct. 14.
Stockton Christian Church Activity Center at 713 W. Highway 32 is the location for the evening sessions. Raymond and Russell Neill’s Farm about six miles west of Fair Play on Highway 32, or 9 miles east of Stockton on Highway 32, is the location of the final field day portion of the school.
Presenters for the school will include local MU Extension regional agriculture specialists and NRCS employees. Education topics covered will include various aspects of a grazing system, including development, management and economics of grazing as well as various aspects of livestock management within a grazing system. Information learned from the school should help livestock producers cut cost in their operation through better livestock, grazing and pasture management.
In addition to the information gained from the school, people who attend all the sessions of the school will be able to participate in soil and water conservation districts planned grazing system cost-share program. Furthermore, by attending the school it gives a better chance to participate in the NRCS EQIP program, which provides incentives for implemented soil and water conservation practices.
To register for the regional grazing school, contact the Cedar County SWCD and NRCS office at 417-276-3388, ext. 3. Cost of the school is $125 per person and $25 for additional participants not needing materials or certificate.
Please register and pay by Sept. 22 to the Cedar County SWCD office (208 West St., Stockton MO 65785) by mail or in person. No refunds for cancellation after Sept. 22.
