Olympic Shooter To Instruct Local Youth
USA Olympic trap and skeet team member Allen Treadwell will assist kids with clay target and wing-shooting skills as part of the Young Outdoorsmen United Youth Shooting Seminar on Sept. 30 in Anderson. The event will include a shotgun shooting exposition and one-on-one instructions with Treadwell. He participated in the 2004 summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, and currently holds multiple national, international and world records in trap and skeet shooting.
The shooting seminar and exhibition shoot begins at 10 a.m. in Anderson, Mo., across the highway from the McDonald County High School football field. All interested youth age 10-18 MUST call Young Outdoorsmen United at 417-439-8594 before Sept. 30 to register for the seminar. Registered participants are welcome to bring their own shotguns (must be in a case), or 12-gauge and 20-gauge loaner shotguns are available to shoot. Ammunition, (12 ga/20 ga), safety glasses and hearing protection will be provided.
The cost is $3 per youth for nonmembers and free to current members. The shooting exposition is free to the general public to view. It is recommended to bring lawn chairs, cameras or videos, and bug spray to the event. Young Outdoorsmen United is based in McDonald County with a goal to “Build opportunities for youth and families to enjoy the outdoors through hunting, fishing and related activities.” The organization has an event each month of the year.
