Lazalde, Mick Lead Team At Stampede

David Lazalde finished in 125th place out of 388 runners in the Green Division of the Missouri Southern Stampede on Sept. 16 to lead McDonald County High School to 39th place in the team standings out of 47 teams.

Lazalde finished the 5000 meter (3.1 mile) Southern cross country course in a time of 17:41.99.

Finishing second for the Mustangs was Garrett Spears, who took 236th place in a time of 18:42.61.

Rounding out the McDonald County results were Jackson Behm, 261st, 19:04.55; Bryce Berryhill, 285th, 19:22.83; Tyler Moritz, 328th, 20:14.35; Elijah Habert, 366th, 22:02.08; Matthew Crowder, 381st, 24:35.41; and Justin Smith, 386th, 26:30.03.

Camren Fischer of Fayettevil­le High School won the individual title with a time of 15:14.25 while West Plains took the team title.

Girls Division

The Lady Mustangs were led by Addy Mick who finished in 173rd place in a time of 22:17.0

Taking second for the Lady Mustangs was Brooklyn Winters (244th, 23:29.0) followed by Natalie Staib, 278th, 24:20.0; Andrea Creason, 327th, 25:55.0; and Istarlin Aden, 345th, 30:43.0.

Riley Rigdon of Bartlesvil­le won the girl’s race in a time of 18:31.25.

Fayettevil­le won the girl’s team title while McDonald County finished 43rd out of 44 teams.

McDonald County’s next race is set for Sept. 23 at the Rim Rock Farm Cross Country Classic at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan.
