July 27, 1933 Sept. 29, 2017 Donna Lou Smith Spencer, 84, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2017. She was born in Joplin, Mo., on July 27, 1933, the only child of Arthur P. Smith and Leta Davidson Smith of Pineville, Mo.

On June 5,

1955, she married Edward E. Spencer in Cassville, Mo., a union that spanned 62 years.

She graduated from Bentonvill­e High School in Bentonvill­e, Ark., where she was homecoming queen and Rodeo Queen of the Ozarks. She was a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and the University of Arkansas in Fayettevil­le, Ark., where she earned her degree in Elementary Education and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She devoted her life to her family, and the many young students who were fortunate to be in her classroom. She was a highly respected and often requested classroom teacher in the Cassville and Mt. Vernon public school systems for over 30 years.

She is survived by her husband, Edward E. Spencer of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Brian A. Spencer of Farmington, Ark., and Scott E. Spencer and wife Gale of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; and two granddaugh­ters, Whitney Spencer Arthur and husband Eric of Fayettevil­le and Caroline Spencer Robbins and husband Jay of Little Rock, Ark.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at the First Christian Church in Mt. Vernon to be followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Pineville Cemetery in Pineville, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Pineville Cemetery, P.O. Box 759, Pineville, MO 64856.
