Youth Deer Hunt Set For Oct. 28 & 29

-

Young Outdoorsmen United will conduct youth deer hunts in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Conservation youth deer season Oct. 28-29. The purpose of the hunts are to introduce youth to deer hunting, the benefits and rewards it provides, and give them a hands-on experience of Missouri’s natural resources.

To qualify, applicants shall be a legal resident of Missouri age 6-15, have no prior deer hunting experience, and never tele-checked a deer. The applicant shall be able to hold, aim, and shoot a firearm by him or herself. Along with these qualifications, the randomly drawn hunter must attend a mandatory safety and shooting instruction class. All Missouri rules, codes and regulations apply, and will be enforced.

Deadline to apply to participate is Oct. 18. Interested youth can request an application by contacting Young Outdoorsmen United at info@young outdoorsmenunited.com or call 417-439-8594. Questions and information about the hunts are welcomed.

The hunts will be conducted on private land in central McDonald County. Successful drawing participants will be notified on Oct. 19 to schedule their hunt and safety meeting times/locations.

The youth hunters may furnish their own firearm and ammunition or one can be provided. The Missouri resident youth hunting permits will be provided by Young Outdoorsmen United. Suitable and comfortable clothing for predicted weather and field conditions are the hunter’s responsibility, including hunter-orange requirements.

Young Outdoorsmen United volunteers enjoy fostering their love of hunting and working to develop tomorrow’s conservationists.” It is fulfilling to pass along my personal passion to a youth who might carry the flame forward and become a lifetime hunter,” stated avid hunter and volunteer Jody Cook of Pineville. “It can be as thrilling as if I was pulling the trigger myself.”
